Emilia, Verity or Ava?

Hi there,

Our baby girl is due tomorrow and we are still undecided on a name for her. We have narrowed it down to Emilia, Verity or Ava. Which one would you name your daughter, popularity aside?

Verity.
Love it!

Emilia, then Ava.

Verity is a bit clunky and reminds me of Verity Treacle from the Kenny Everett Show (presumably the younger generation won't make this association though!)

Emilia. To me it's the prettiest and the most elegant.

SumAndSubstance · 18/08/2017 21:28

I do genuinely like the name, not just that it's unusual. Actually, when I think about it, I know two Veritys, but have never known an Emilia or an Ava personally! The two Veritys I know are feisty, loyal and intelligent. As for nicknames, they are both known to everyone as 'Verity'. Not everything has to be shortened...

Lots of positives for Verity but is it the fact that it's not as popular as the others that makes people like it more or is there genuine affection for the name?

I like them all. I suppose I wold go with Verity because I don't hear it ofter and would use Ava as a middle name.

*two

Verity. Such a lovely name and meaning. The other too are far too popular.

Alisvolatpropiis · 18/08/2017 00:48

Verity is much more lovely and unsual than the other two

Emilia

chamenanged30 · 17/08/2017 21:00

What nickname could verity have though? Vez?

My Emilia is Emmy, Ems and could be Millie if she ever chooses.

Babyk12 · 17/08/2017 19:59

Very true @LilaBard . It's so much harder to pick a name for a girl. My boys were a lot easier.

All lovely names but think I would lean towards Verity as she's less likely to share a class with 4 or 5 others

Babyk12 · 17/08/2017 17:30

We really like Verity, the only drawback I can think of is that it is quite a strong name for a little girl?

Verity.

DoorbellsSleighbellsSchnitzel · 17/08/2017 13:48

Verity. Definitely.

terrylene · 17/08/2017 13:41

Yes Verity!

I loved that name from the first Poldark (1970s) and was always going to call my daughter that. I have two called something else. Not sure what happened. Perhaps DH didn't like it .........Confused

Kazzawazza69 · 17/08/2017 13:36

100% Verity!

Schods01155 · 17/08/2017 12:15

My dd is Ava. Always loved that name. The other names are lovely too.

Verity. I love it. Sadly it did not go well with our surname so I couldn't use it for our DD.

CocoLoco87 · 16/08/2017 21:42

Emilia!

Alexandra87 · 16/08/2017 21:40

I like all 3 in this order
