Thoughts on name and surname with the same letter

Hi

Is it weird having first name and surname with the same letter .. e.g.
Dylan Dillie
Niall Norman etc etc
? Not sure if I'm over thinking?

I have a Tristan with a T surname. I love the alliterative sound!

I have an SS. When we were choosing the name I kept putting the middle name in when I was saying it in my head. So for example Samuel Eric South, and it sounded great I thought. It was only later when I realised no one would be saying his full name, it would always be Samuel South that I worried about it. By then though we were totally set on the name and there was no going back 😬😬

Just adding to the yes, if the names aren't too samey it's fine. My eldest has an alliterative name although her two names sound very dissimilar so I think it's ok - and in fact her first name has a repeated consonant sound so there are three in a row, like Susan Sarandon.

Totally depends. It's a no from me to Dylan Dillie - but I know a Harry Hughes, Rupert Reed and Sarah Snow, all of which work fine.

My DS has alliterative name (two Ms) and I genuinely didn't even notice until he was a few months old! He has a different surname to me so I think I sort of 'forgot' what his surname was in my post natal haze. I now think it's quite cool, but certainly not something I would spend any time thinking about.

Lily Lee is cute but ...
Chloe Clarke or Clara Clarke are too much but Caroline Clarke sounds pretty.

It depends on the combination

Stanley Stanton is OK.

I have an alliterative name, but because the vowels and rhythm of the names are different it's fine.

Dylan Dillie would be awful, Dylan Davidson would be ok.

My dd has alliterative names and it works very well! Totally depends on the names, as pps have said.

My DD is Fl Fl 🤦🏻‍♀️ I didn't realise until we registered her but because of the other letters it doesn't sound to bad. My name also begins with F. Again didn't realise.

It depends whether your birthing a baby or a SUPERHERO.

We were put off Clara (our surname starts with a 'Cla' sound) and deemed it a bit too superhero.

All-in-all, I like a bit of alliteration - but our two names were just a bit too samey-samey.

Agree with others that it depends on the individual names - plenty would be fine, others sound a bit odd. However I think that's the same with lots of name combinations.

Our son due in September is going to have the initials AA. I like it but wasn't deliberate, just love the first name
