Be kind. Thoughts on Jackson, Nova and our "other list"

We do not know what we are having but after thinking we had our names laid out... We changed our mind, and it seems we keep changing it.

We agreed on the name Jax for a boy but that's now changed to Jackson. I really wanted Jack but DP said no way.

We agreed on either Talia, Mila, Lara or Kady for a girl (see where we had trouble) but I now like Nova. DP yet to form a opinion solidly on the name yet but loves Lara which is my least favourite out the choices.

How do you know when you've found "the name" ?

Also for a boy do you prefer Jackson, Jax or Jack. And a girl Mila, Talia, Lara, Kady or Nova?

Boys middle name is Ph in sound and girls is Beh in sound if that at all matters.

I do find Jack rather dull but it is a good solid name. Jackson is a better alternative IMO.
Don't like Nova but I know a little Nola which is similar (and not a car) I also have a cousin called Talia so like that too

My first born is Jack (12), so I for one think it's a great name but I also love Jackson, and using Jax for short sounds very cool, shame your other half isn't into Rourke it's a great name,
Nova is a lovely name for a girl Talia is also nice or how about marlia,

I prefer Jackson or Jack to Jax.

Really dislike Nova and Kady. I like Katy though. Lara is my favourite of the girls' names, Mila and Talia are ok.

Kellyturnbull · 15/08/2017 00:36

I'm in central Scotland too and I love your name choices 😊 However I'm also a fan of all things American.. I so wanted to name my boy Hudson, hunter etc but my hubby said no straight away
We had Jax on our list along with Mac and Shay.. We really liked short strong names!! We went with Shay but I still love Jax, I think it's a great name!

Not a fan of Jack btw, my daughter in primary one has 5 in her class of 22 kids 🙈 Still too popular in my eyes

Topseyt · 14/08/2017 23:32

Jack for a boy. I like that, but none of the others.

I'm afraid none of the girl's names appeal to me.

Singingforsanity · 14/08/2017 22:58

I love Lara, but if it's a no-go how about Zara, Tara, Cara or Farah? All beautiful in my humble opinion. Not keen on Kady but how about Cadence with nn Kady? Talia is nice too but I'm one of those who think a full name on birth certificate is better to allow options for the kid when they're older, so would use Natalia (which is really pretty) instead.

Jackson is ok but I'd prefer Jack, popular or not. It's popular because it's a great name! I suppose you can always have Jack as a nn.

lavenderpekins · 14/08/2017 22:51

Your list is a bit strange. Discombobulated imo

junebirthdaygirl · 14/08/2017 22:46

I honestly dont know why people put effort into thinking of a name and then come up with Jack. Its so common. It says to me we couldnt be bothered even thinking about names.
Lara is beautiful.

Popskipiekin · 14/08/2017 22:42

If you like the 'x' sound of Jax/Jackson what about Dexter, Rex, Max.
Lara, Mila, Talia all lovely. I do like PPs suggestion of Lyra. Or what about Layla, Matilda (Tilda).

Fridgedooropen · 14/08/2017 22:40

Talia or Lara

Jack

Enidblyton1 · 14/08/2017 22:38

Jack and Lara would get my vote.
Quite like Jackson
Nova seems a bit forced.

Dixiestamp · 14/08/2017 22:37

Lara is my favourite girls name (it's my DD). I like Jack or Jackson, but don't mind Jax actually.

pilates · 14/08/2017 22:34

Jack and Talia, dislike the rest sorry

Sophronia · 14/08/2017 22:17

Jackson and Lara

Amee1992x · 14/08/2017 18:22

Jackson, Mila & Kady are my faves! We have a white cat called Nova

MrsCharlieD · 14/08/2017 18:20

Your names aren't to my taste but of the list I like Lara and Jackson the best. Jack's are 10 a penny and Jaxon evokes the C word to me.

MaisieDotes · 14/08/2017 14:42

Not Jax or Kady.

Lara is lovely.

ilivebythesea · 14/08/2017 14:39

Sorry, don't like Jax or Jaxon at all. Or Jackson, which will probably be shortened to Jack anyway, which I think is a lovely name, even though it's v popular.

Like Lara and Mila. Don't like Kady or Nova I'm afraid. Talia just sounds like a nn for Natalia.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 14/08/2017 14:29

Jack is a good solid name.
Prefer Laura to Lara.
How about Lyra ?

OnNaturesCourse · 14/08/2017 13:42

American names are probably from our love of American culture. We watch a lot of American shows, are big into comics etc (well I pretend to be) etc so we may well have been influenced there.

Not keen on Jake, Zack etc etc.

My other boys name was Rourke. Loved it from when I was a kid but DP shot it down in flames. Same with Lochlan.
