Naming isn't easy

Hi!!
I'd love some advice on the use of Ted, I adore the name. However I worry that when baby (yellow one) is older they would prefer a name such as Edward and then they can have their own variation of a nickname.

We recently lost DP father and we we're taken with 'Michael, before he suddenly passed, as middle name as it's a strong family name on both sides.

Girls names are all sorted.

Any advice would be super!

No I wouldn't mind at all. I'd like to think the name would grow and change with him as he does but at the same time I just love Ted. It's just such a hard choice as outside influences say 'He needs a proper name!'

Edward, Edmund and Theodore are all lovely, but equally I think it's fine to just use Ted if that's the name you want. My son has a nickname name on the BC - I liked the longer form, but not as much and wasn't keen on the other potential shortenings, so it made sense just to put the name I wanted to call him on the BC. Would you mind if your Ted chose to go by Eddie or Theo later on?

Only joking! There's an obsession on here with having a "proper" name for the birth certificate and you get some pretty tenuous links suggested.

Ted Michael/ Edward Michael/ Theodore Michael are all lovely, Theodore would be my favourite.

You could also use Edwin, Edmund or Tedric.

Use Edward or Theodore on the birth certificate but just always use Ted. Your baby! You can do whatever you want. Or just use Ted. If he knows he's Ted, he'll always want to be Ted.
