Naming isn't easy

Hi!!
I'd love some advice on the use of Ted, I adore the name. However I worry that when baby (yellow one) is older they would prefer a name such as Edward and then they can have their own variation of a nickname.

We recently lost DP father and we we're taken with 'Michael, before he suddenly passed, as middle name as it's a strong family name on both sides.

Girls names are all sorted.

Any advice would be super!

Thaddeus is the evil demon baby in American Horror Story and I can't get over that for an actual real life child.

I love the name Ted but our surname doesn't go with it! I think use a longer version on birth certificate if you want him to have option in future but just always call him Ted 😊

I'm really taken with Thaddeus Michael or Edward Michael and can be Ted. My girls names aren't shortened names so I think we have two winners for a baby boys

OP, Ted is lovely. I know lots of old men called Ted. I think it sounds grown up. There are so many Teddys (I know Teddies too) that I don't think any will care that's their name.

Ted is nice but I would also prefer it as a nick name. Thaddeus is good too or maybe even Teodore. However, its your choice cause its your baby.

I too like Ted but prefer it as a nickname, I love the name Edward! Such a classic!

Oh and don't worry about saying 'yellow' at all, people on here get their knickers in a twist over the most ridiculous things-we know you weren't implying any gender stereotypes!

I hadn't thought of Thaddeus!! That is beautiful.
Sorry for causing any issues with 'yellow' just a term others have used. Baby has a grey room if that helps.

My friends little boy is called Teddy. I didn't like it at first but he is an adorable little Teddy I think when he gets older (only 3 at the min) he will possibly like to be called Ted

Name him Ted. He can always use his middle name later in life if needed.

I like both Edward and Michael, but I would use the full name on the birth certificate.
I have a longer name that is never used in day to day life, and I quite like the fact that I have the choice.

It it also useful for a dc to know they are in trouble, as that's when you'll use their full name

My boy's bedroom is yellow. Assigning colours to genders is at best ridiculous and at worst harmful - read a thread just this morning about a boy who wanted a butterfly face paint and his parents refused fgs.

It means they don't know the baby's sex. Lots of pregnancy/parenting forums use team pink (girls), team blue (boys) and team yellow (waiting until the birth to find out).
