'Chavvy' name.

So for baby no 1 we considered Caleb, however we had a beautiful girl instead. Was considering Caleb again for baby number 2 but saw a post the other day where someone referred to it as a 'chavvy' name 'like Kayden and Jayden' (their words not mine) do people agree with this comment?! I see it as a biblical name (and the singer from Kings of Leon,actually)
Other contender is Rafferty. Middle name will be James.

Rafferty is awful . Much prefer Caleb

But it's a bit embarrassing if you're not posh to have a posh kids name. Maybe you are posh though, I don't know.

Glad Caleb isn't getting a flat out negative reaction though-I have always pronounced it Cay-leb

The only Caleb I know is one of my finalists, and he's deeply UMC, with vaguely tweedy country architect parents.

Had no idea it was Jude Law's sons name.
The more negative comments I get about Rafferty the more I realise I really like it and I'm not too bothered by them. I quite like Poncey names clearly😂
Thanks for the honesty ladies, think we need to go with our gut on this one.

Caleb is most certainly not chavvy! Just don't pronounce it Kay-lub, it's Kay-Leb!

Definitely wouldn't be considered a "chavvy" name where I live (not in the UK). Biblical name with a sweet meaning.

Rafferty is try hard and quite poncey, and always makes me think the person just heard Jude Law call his son that and copied him.

A little bit, sorry. Also not keen on Rafferty though, probably because its such a common surname here.

I think Rafferty's awful and Caleb's OK - not my favourite, but certainly doesn't sound 'chavvy' (ugh, horrible word) to me.

I don't know a child called Caleb, however I'd stick with the traditional spelling and I didn't see it tattooed on anyone's neck or arm at Legoland last week so you're probably safe.

I'd steer clear or any alternative spellings....Kay-lebb?

Yeah it really is! And people are so judgemental-I wish I was the kind of person who didn't care about other people's opinions but,alas, I do!
I literally got one negative comment about my daughter's name (it wasn't even that negative it was just 'really?! Oh I know a few of those') and it played on my mind for months and months. That's why I'm asking for opinions from people I don't know in the hope I won't take it so personally lol

I think it's a bit like this generation's Callum.

It's used be chavs yes but a god mix of all types too so I think useable. I like it.

We chose a name with Persian (but non-religious) heritage and were told by a relative that it was a "trailer trash" name! You can't please everyone OP, just pick the one that suits him best!
