Maybe this has been done to death on here, but I've just seen it described on another thread as 'chavvy' Hmm

I adore the name and would probably choose it for a boy if I am lucky enough to have another. I know that it has become quite popular, but funnily enough I don't know any.

Thoughts?

I have one and absolutely love it. I had mine about 6 months before it got crazy popular & got a lot of eyebrow lifts when I said it because it was seen as more on the unusual side. Then the film came out and apparently it's everywhere.
I've come across the odd one but where I am all the boys are Harry Henry or James. My son is in a church school & is the only Noah. However I imagine in the next year or 2 there will be a few more coming into reception.

I don't see it as a chavvy name at all but maybe I am biased ..... or just a chav lol.

I really wanted to call DS2 Noah but everyone including DH and DM were aghast and said he'd get laughed at. He's 19 now and I don't know any Noahs his age (which was part of the appeal) but a few years later it became really popular.

Yes, I wasn't very happy. But love our DS's name and it was a close second so not too bothered. My parents have very specific views on everything. They also said DD's name was 'a bit footballer's wives' when we announced it! Hmm

Noah isn't chavvy. It is popular but that's not a reason not to use it if you love it.

I've heard people saying this on here before and still can't believe anyone would be that rude. If anyone ever refused to call my child by the name I chose for them, I'd refuse to ever call them over to visit.

Love it! Was number 1 on the list for DS but made the mistake of mentioning it to my parents who hated it (said it was chavvy!) and they'd refuse to call him that! Hmm

Around 2000 l taught a boy called Noah and thought what a lovely unusual name . However it suddenly popped up everywhere and except for Jack seems to be the most popular around here.

Mine would be 'Noah James'. Noah Benjamin is great too. I think it definitely needs a strong middle name.
I'm not even pregnant Blush

Just FYI, I only know of one Noah - a Facebook friend's child and they live in New Zealand. Never come across any others and I have a toddler in nursery. Just saying it's not all that popular across the UK (I'm in the South East BTW).

Plus I think it's a classic handsome name. I particularly like the combination of Noah Benjamin.

It's very popular, but that's not the same as 'chavvy' (nasty term anyway). I wouldn't let popularity put you off if you really like it - popular names are often popular because they're nice!

I have a GS called Noah. I love it. The only other person I know called Noah is over 80 and from a time when biblical names were very common.

I have a Noah. He is named for a few reasons but one of them after a 70 something Noah!
It is popular because it's charting high however he has always been the only one in his settings. He's 5.
It's lovely!

Biblical names are a non-starter for me. Also I already know a few boys and girls named Noah.

I taught a teenager called Noah about 5 years ago and remember thinking what a gorgeous name it was. I still like it but it's just so popular now. It's almost expected when there's a baby announcement in the same way Oliver was a couple of years ago. I think it's unlikely to date badly though as it's been around so long.

I have an adult friend named Noah. I've never thought of it as an unusual name, but I do tend to think of it as a Jewish name - not that it has to be, though.
