For a goat that family have just acquired.

My DC have been given the proud task of choosing the name.

We want something a bit, well, goaty and down to earth, but it has to be a "real name" (ie a human name).

DC1 wants a Viking name (I think inspired by the fact that Vikings and goats have horns and beards in common Grin).

Current front runners are Trudie and Helga, but we thought MN might come up with more ideas.

We haven't met the recipient of the name yet, but apparently she is mainly white with some chestnut brown speckles, and is very playful.

clembarass you don't have 4 dc and have left a vicar perchance?

Following on from the Saxon theme I thought of Cnut. As the goat is female and this is MNet, It's obvious. I assume the goat will be atrocious.

What about Clem(ency), btw?Grin

haba · 10/08/2017 20:26

My DD's name is listed above! She's definitely as stubborn and feisty as a goat...

Shame about Margot, I absolutely love the name Smile
Now, is your MIL an old goat...?

WhenLoveAndCakeCollide · 10/08/2017 20:18

Sitting here laughing at all the mentions of Gertrude, as it's my second middle name, and I hate it. However it was after my dad's grandmother, and it meant a lot to him, so I've kept it, as it's only a middle name.

Great name for a goat though.

We all LOVE Brunhilda, Myrtle, and Thora, so I think (hope) it will be one of those. DC are writing all the favourites to be picked out of a hat with great ceremony when we get to the family members' house. DH and I are not allowed to see what they have written, it is top secret apparently.

I rather like Ragnhilda, but we are not quite sure how to pronounce it

Margoat is also excellent Grin, as is Goatrude, but MIL is called Margot, so I have made DC promise faithfully not to put that one in the hat!

Will update on Saturday when the naming ceremony is over.

Our goats were Hilda and Evadne, after Hinge & Bracket.
Evadne would eat Hilda's tail given the chance.

For some reason freename's lists had me giggling like my 5 year old after trying to tell a fart joke to his brother. I've obviously woken up in a silly mood today. Blush

PipGirl404 · 10/08/2017 08:00

I did not read the first line & thought you wanted a goaty and down to earth name for your baby girl.

lalalemon · 10/08/2017 07:27

The name that sprung to mind was Bridget!
I'm not impressed I had no prior goat warning before opening the thread though, I have a big goat phobia! Thank god there are no photos!
