Kit for a girl?

Not as a nickname, as the full legal name.

I like it a lot but is it a serious enough name for whatever she wants to do?

I prefer it to Kitty, which I'm not keen on. But I prefer Katherine / Christina etc with Kit for short.

Catriona? I'd use it as a NN for a longer name, not hugely keen on it as a name in itself.

Kit would be great as a nick name. Maybe some full names as Katrine, Katrina, Katriane, Katarina, Cathrine, CathIyn, Catheryna, Catheryn, Catherin, Catalyn, Caitriona. Easter Smile

I absolutely love it. I would go for Kitty on birth certificate, I think. Although I would have slight reservations about it being too nicknamey, I love it so much I think I'd get over them!

I love it and considered it but would always go for a full name. Katherine/Kathleen/Katya/Christina etc.

Yes I would say it's fine for when she grows up, it's non-fussy. I know a warm and sociable Kit in her 40s

Kit was my dgm name btw, short for Katherine.

Dd is kitty as her full legal name. We call her Kit. I really don't like the name Katherine. I know it's mumsnet law to give your child a name that no one will laughter at when they are the Prime Minister, but I love the name Kitty!

I wouldn't go for just Kit. Maybe Catherine, Katherine, Katriona, Kate or Kitty at a push. I would generally assume Kit to be male and short for Christophet if I saw the name on a list tbh

I find it a harsh, insubstantial sort of name. I don't even like it as a nickname.

If my name was Kit, I'd get it changed to Kate.

Kit is often nn for Christopher - so what about bc Christine/a or even Kirsty?
