Henry but not Henry

Henry would be bloody perfect but we can't have it.

Looking for something similar but can't be:
Harry
Hugo

(Nor can it be all manner of other nice boys name. We have 12 nephews between us and DP is one of 5 boys)

I thought of Hal, although it is really a diminutive of Henry, isn't it?

Step siblings is just an example of why some names simply cannot be used (to the "just use the name" brigade)

I don't see anything wrong with liking the name of your partner's child? whilst knowing full well you cannot use it

Probably, Snap, it's the name OP has always loved but knows she can't have, so wants something similar.

I'd always wanted James but my brother got there first with my nephew, damn him. Every time we talked about names, I'd get to the point where I just thought 'of course, James, that's perfect' and then remember.

Thank you for the suggestions, going to have a proper read through.

To those who say just use the name, what if it is a half sibling? There are some situations you simply cannot use the same name.

I'd rather not duplicate names with my nearest and dearest either. My kids attend the same school as my siblings kids and a lot of them have same surname.

Just use Henry - even cousins can have the same first name imo - just speak to whoever has used it first and explain it's the only name you love
