What do you think of baby girl...

Deborah? That spelling...not Debra, not to be shortened to Debbie (if possible - I know I can't control this with friends in the future, etc!!). Just Deborah?

My sister is called Deborah she 45 and there was as few in her generation but haven't heard it since

Yep, I like it. It's Biblical, so will always be pretty timeless - whether or not it's very current - and it has a lovely rhythm to it. I'm not keen on Debbie or Debs, though. Bee is lovely!

CaioNi: Teddy Robinson! I loved Teddy Robinson! On my bed I had my first doll called Deborah and my first teddy who was called Robinson Teddy (for some reason). I can see the line drawings in my mind's eye now. I'm talking late 50s early 60s edition. Ah I've enjoyed remembering that, thank you!

Nice to see the old names coming back. I'm from a generation where the name was quite common. They were mostly shortened to Debbie but I know one who has always been called by her full name.

You can always call her Deborah in full but have to accept her friends will call her Debbie unless SHE tells them not to.

I like it! There was a girl on Big Brother this year called Deborah and she definitely carried it well. I don't think it's dated.

I quite like it and I think those names (Karen, Linda, Pauline etc) will probably be the next generation's popular names, so your Deborah will be setting the trend!

How do you get Bee as a nickname? Or is it just a random nickname rather than coming from Deborah?

I love the name Deborah. I taught a lovely Deborah last year, though I'm afraid her friends did call her Debs...

I think it will be a lovely name when she's older. Will sound 'grown up' and professional when she's reached that age, but also has lots of options of shortenings for friends/family (Debs, Debbie etc).

Also calling her Bee as a nickname is adorable! Smile

It's a retro 60s-70s name but it's pretty, like Caroline is retro but still pretty and fresh too Imo. I would go for it!

I like it. Deborah sounds lovely, and tbh I can imagine it in twelve years in a sea of the students at my secondary school, and it being well placed. A lot of names like that are coming back. Like Nichola, and Joanne/a as well. I think in five years there will be a surge of them, like the Mabel's and Darcy's we have now, George and Edwards etc.

I like this name, which is weird as somebody called Deborah was really nasty to me when I was younger. Normally that association would be strong enough to ruin a name. However, I think it's lovely. Sounds classy to me. I also like Karen.

It's the prime example of an outdated name.

Horrible. Maybe it'll have a resurgence in 20+ years, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that.
