What do you think of this name combination?

I am 6 months pregnant, with a little girl.

Our surname starts with a 'H' and has an 'ie' ending. ( more of an 'ee' sound)

Since baby will be born in November, we were wondering about Holly.

But then she would have HH as initials and similar 'y/ie' sound at the end, making it rhyme, almost.

Is this a strange sounding name? I appreciate any advice on this.

My DDs name isn't alliterated but it does rhyme with a shortened version of our surname (DHs nickname). Anyone that has picked up on it has liked it but many don't even notice.

It reminded me of Holly Hobbie too.

I really like Kiera and it would go well with your surname.

Not Josephine, it's a lovely name but Josie Hosie wouldn't work as well.

Of your suggestions, I like Holly and Erin. Holly Hosie is fine.

Molly or Polly would be better. Or Milly.

Ivy? Nicola (St Nicholas). Mary (Jesus's mother).

To be fair I have a Christmas day baby and we just gave him Caspar as a third name so I don't know why youbreally need a Christmas name.

I love it! But maybe you could use a middle name to break it up, or go for something like Holly-Ann? I don't usually like double barrelled names but that sounds cute!

I really like it. It sounds sweet. You might consider that she may want to change her name if she gets married, your surname shouldn't stop you from choosing the first name you love the best. Holly is by far the nicest name on your list. What about Holly Willoughby, that has 2 "y" endings but no one comments on it.

I do often like alliterative names but Holly Hosie is a bit too much. Ho Ho isn't great... I have the same problem with my last name and have had to ditch some names I really like for the sake of my child! Your other names are all lovely, especially Erin.

Thanks everyone for your opinions, it was kind of the same conclusion I have come to, it's a bit too similar. Will try to choose one of the others then! Thanks all

Sorry, I think it's a little too much personally but if you like it go for it.

From your other choices I like Erin best and Holly could work as a middle name?

I'm in the same situation - all the names I love just don't work with our surname!

It's the repetition of ho that makes it a no for me. Holly Harvey or Hardy sounds ok, but Holly Hosie seems too much

I'm afraid it doesn't work for me. It's more than you described in your opening post, it's all the vowel sounds the same in each name. Holly Healy or something is ok, Holly Hosie would be too much for me.

Hosie

So it'll be Holly Hosie?
