I'm due soon, and stuck! I'm really into pretty, unusual, fanatical type names. Some of my favourites are:
Astrid
Nuala
Phaedra
Sky

Suggestions, pls!! Quick!

Igraine? Might as well call her Eadache.

MadameJosephine · 25/07/2017 21:07

Astrid and Aurelia are lovely

I've always loved Igraine (King Arthur's mother if I remember correctly)

DigitalGhost · 23/07/2017 16:16

I love Astrid.
Also like Athena and Octavia.

Thewolfsjustapuppy · 23/07/2017 11:50

We also had a Sister Philomela if that helps seething?

Mulch · 22/07/2017 22:41

Astrids just lovely

seething1234 · 22/07/2017 22:24

@Maryz I'm off to google that sounds good

@Thewolfsjustapuppy did we go to the same school or did every catholic school have a Sister Dympna [shudders at the name]

Thewolfsjustapuppy · 22/07/2017 20:48

I like Dympna although it does bring back memories of one of the (thankfully nicer) nuns at school.

Theia is the Earth's twin planet which upon collision with earth broke into bits and became the moon

daisypond · 22/07/2017 17:59

The story of Phaedra isn't the happiest of tales from the Greek myths, so I'd rule that one out. How about Aurelia?

seething1234 · 22/07/2017 17:39

Seeing as Nuala has been mentioned I'll put forward Dympna (both names I associate with older Irish women, I'm not saying I like either btw!)

GreenTulips · 22/07/2017 13:00

Go to Adsa and shout 'Astrid' and see how it sounds!

Eilonwy (I've just started re-reading the Prydain chronicles and that was my favourite girls name when I was 12 Grin)

SoyUnPerdedor2 · 21/07/2017 23:01

How is nuala pronounced?

I know a nala.
She is a quiet, gentle girl.

And I love phaedra.

Wish I had seen when naming my dd.

MrsPicklesonSmythe · 21/07/2017 22:17

Nuala is my nan's name I adore it and it's so unusual

restingbf · 21/07/2017 20:08

I love Thea

implantsandaDyson · 21/07/2017 20:01

From your list I'd go with Astrid, I know a preschool one. I didn't like it to start with but it's growing on me.
Don't pick Nuala if you're into pretty, unusual, fantasy type names. The only fantasy world Nuala indulges in is one in which she can tell your Ma if you've been talking to boys whilst wearing a too short skirt and listening to some new fangled pop music.

MikeUniformMike · 21/07/2017 19:42

I'd go with Astrid. It's easy to pronounce. No weird spelling. Pretty and pretty meaning. Could be a princess or novelist or office worker etc. Classic.
