Harri or Ranulph?

First baby. He's two days old and we can't pick a name.

I think we are down to two

Harri (surprisingly my Englishman husband likes the Welsh spelling - we currently live in Wales but likely to move about a bit)

Or

Ranulph

The pros to Harri is that he kind of looks like a Harri and my husband had championed it from the start. I like it but just feel is terribly popular at the moment - oh like ANOTHER Harri.

Ranulph is a name we both like as we've gone along. It's hard to imagine it as a baby name though I think teen/man it's great. I guess it would go to Ran as a nickname which is fine.

What do we do mumsnetters?

What do you think of these two names?

Love Ranulph! Great name and Ran is a fab nn.

Harry is sweet and I respect the Welsh spelling. But if you move people will assume it's spelled Harry.

Ranulph wins for me!

Oh, Ranulph is truly fabby !

I don't think they are attractive names, there's loads of brilliant Welsh names why don't you look at those, all mine have Welsh names

Harri

As long as you don't mind correcting the spelling when people assume Harry

We live in Wales and almost picked Harri for DS2. It's a lovely name.

Harri, I prefer Harry though

Topseyt · 19/07/2017 17:16

Harri, though I would spell it Harry.

Personally prefer Ranulph as Ran is such an excellent nickname, with the added coolness of Ranulph Fiennes as a namesake.
