Bellerephon was the human of course. Even if you were expecting a horse, however, the myths about Pegasus are WEIRD. Similarly Apollo or Artemis - I probably would stick to stories with fewer grim endings. Hector is a bit safer.

I adore Hector. But can't get away from the fact that it also means to hector...and I know children can hector you so it seems particularly perverse to call your child Hector

I too wondered whether you are expecting a foal.

I don't like either name, but Pegasus is in a special league of awfulness all of its own.

I'm afraid I would struggle to keep a straight face if I ever came across a boy or a man called Pegasus.

Surely you aren't or weren't serious. Please don't. The poor child will have to live with the consequences.

What about when Pegasus starts high school... really think about it? And I mean really, really think about it. What if he's not the cool/popular kid. He'll be ripped to shreds.
What if Pegasus turned out to be a normal human working at ASDA or Tesco or the school janny instead of the successful money maker I expect you think the name conjures ... do you think that name would really go down well? Even if he was a CEO, banker or whatever other successful career... that name will hold him back.

Maybe for a middle same.

Same for Philomena

Pegasus was the name of a kebab shop in the town where I went to uni. They gave me the worst food poisoning I've ever had. Please don't do it.

Phineus is nice as a pp suggested. Phin is a nice nickname and not too out there. Pegasus is a bit too unusual for me.
