Atticus or Julius?
There will be no middle name as the surname is double barrelled (2 syllables first, 1 syllable after).

@BogQueens if you say so Hmm I suppose because I know one, and know he gets Kit, it doesn't seem odd to me!

Of course nicknames don't have to be exact snip-outs from the full name, but I think Atticus known as Kit sounds particularly odd because the nickname/shortening is an exact reversal of the middle syllable, and makes you start thinking that the obvious shortening for Atticus is 'Tic'.

Atticus is very trendy at the moment. Julius is more of a classic name.

Sorry @Epipgab didn't realise nicknames had to be exact cutouts from the longer name?

So... same way you get Bob from Robert, Teddy from Theodore and so on.

I know a little Atticus who gets Kit and I love it.

Not keen on Julius sorry OP there are too many Julians around my area who are 50 year old men x

They do tend to get shortened. Or lengthened is they're one syllable. Not necessarily by the parents.
Both names are OK.

But if I HAD to pick one or the other it'd have to be Julius because then it could be shortened to Jules

You don't need to shorten names. My kids have 3 and 2 syllable names that very rarely get shortened.

I like Atticus but would you shorten it? I always shorten names so I would call Julius Jools. Like PP I refer Julian.
