Just looked up David in the MN Baby Name Finder. It's a family name we've considered but I'm on the fence so thought I'd see what similar names they suggested. They came up with - wait for it - FESTER. Baby FESTER. Can only conclude that the name finder is tripping balls. Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Salvadorkoala · 17/07/2017 09:10

I was recommended Poohead for a boy Grin

DramaInPyjamas · 17/07/2017 09:06

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 17/07/2017 08:59

Thanks TheSea.

I just put in my own fairly traditional name & suggestions included Sahara and Nettle for girls, Reebok and Celem Jack for boys.

Balonz came up too but I'd be surprised if it didn't!

Empress you then have to click on the name from that list and you will get a load more "information" on it.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 17/07/2017 08:45

How do you get suggested names? When I type a name into the search box it just brings up that name & whatever's near it alphabetically.

EBearhug · 17/07/2017 02:04

Whoever programmed this is a comic genius. Grin

wherebluebirdsfly · 17/07/2017 01:52

I put in my own extremely common name. Got suggested Carrotcake for a girl 😂😂

SoyUnPerdedor2 · 17/07/2017 01:30

Thanks flavia

It just gave me ettienne for a girl.

tangledup123 · 16/07/2017 23:02

For my own name I get: Twinkle, Fleaona, Banjo, Mercedies, Nymphadora, Trilby, President, Baby, Spiral, Plopper, E-Jay, Dorito, Kricket and Spud.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 16/07/2017 22:52

Somebody's been having fun. The most recent names for boys on there are Hamburglar, Gladstonebrooks, Matty and Sally, and the girls' names are Barbieq, Gareth, Marypoppins and Cissy.

elephantoverthehill · 16/07/2017 22:46

Thanks Sadik. I am always interested in the Welsh language, my 2 best friends had North Walian mothers and would converse in Welsh whenever they met. (we were in England)

tangledup123 · 16/07/2017 22:45

Rufusroughcut was one of my suggestions Grin

Also Bogomil, Boccherini and Dolphus for boys and Akkuntalina for a girl Hmm

OutnumberedbyFurchesters · 16/07/2017 22:38

I just put in my DDs name and got...

Sedef
Napia
Barbie
Jeaya!

HashiAsLarry · 16/07/2017 22:35

I put dd's name in and got Dilly for a girl and Yu for a boy
Ds has a rather more normal name than dd and he's got:
Jumbe, Zebulon, Rodachan and Aruba Shock

Sadik · 16/07/2017 22:34

However unless your dd's name suggests you might be keen on Welsh opera singers (or Celtic warriors), it's not a very useful alternative Grin

Sadik · 16/07/2017 22:32

It's hard to explain, but not like Boudica - the first 'u' is more of an 'i' (like in biscuit), the dd is a soft 'th' sound, the second 'u' a slightly harder 'i', and the g is quite soft, almost but not quite shading into a 'c'. At least that's how it's said here, it'd be a bit different in north Wales I suspect.

elephantoverthehill · 16/07/2017 22:24

Sadik how would Buddug be pronounced in Welsh? Would it be the same as Boudicca either with a soft or hard 'C'?

Sadik · 16/07/2017 22:20

Particularly unhelpful elephant since Buddug is the Welsh version of Boudica. (It's a much nicer name than it looks to English eyes!)

elephantoverthehill · 16/07/2017 22:11

I put in DD's name and suggestions included 'Buddug and Boudicca'.

clairethewitch70 · 16/07/2017 22:08

I put in Rebecca and got Reebok and Refugio!

Vonklump · 16/07/2017 22:06

It's definitely on glue.
I put in Martin.
Alternatives are Lafayette, Maxident, Newland and.......

Blanket!!

clairethewitch70 · 16/07/2017 22:03

I put in DM's name - boys - Dareth & Dorito

DF's name - Wildred

DS1 name gave normal suggestions

DS2 - Tanis, Tomasso, Thaemes Girls - Tink, Tenja

ginflumpsandzebraprint · 16/07/2017 22:03

I got piaro?? For a boy
And Glissen for a girl when I put in dd1's name, do people actually name their kids these things ?

Vonklump · 16/07/2017 22:02

This is fun.
I put in Bob and it suggested Acer.

SuperBeagle · 16/07/2017 21:57

Wednesday's a fab name. I wanted it for DD2's middle name, but DH wasn't having it. Angry Wednesday is a brilliant namesake too.
