Slow Monday on sick leave. Can anyone offer any other suggestions to my girls list please. Needs to be English / Germanic sounding for the first name, happy for alternative middle names that aren't too common with preference of Europe, Africa or Hebrew origins.

I actually live in Germany, and think its interesting as to what some people think are typical German names are. These are some of the names I hear on a fairly regular basis.

sugarplumfairy28 I should have probably said German / Dutch Afrikaans; it was sloppy of me not too (there's also some traditional and modern Hebrew names thrown in my list!).

I love Ottilie! From your list Lotta, Merrit and Emelia are all wonderful in my mind - thank you!

Oh I wasn't referring to you specifically Hurtle just a general observation, I did see your genre was broader than just German.

It is just interesting how a culture is perceived on the whole. I have found that a lot of the names I hear regularly aren't what ones would consider 'German as such', and in fact a lot are equally as common in the UK. There are a lot of Amys, Joannas, Annas, Kiras, Hannahs, Lousias
