Cliodhnadh - How to pronounce?

My preg sister is thinking about this name? I have no clue how to say this name. I'm not trying to be rude or disrespectful in any way as I love Irish names but I'm not sure how you would say this. Can anyone help?

@Bridgetreilly our whole family is Irish including our parents. We were born in Scotland however but we lived in Ireland for about 9 years. I live in Wales now and she is in Scotland. I have a dodgy Scottish/Irish/Welsh mixed accent now.

Assuming you (and therefore your sister) aren't Irish, why would she deliberately choose the most obscure and most difficult spelling of the name? Cliona would be a lovely name.

That's an unusual spelling, but presuming it's the same as Cliodhna then it's pronounced KLEE-uh-nuh

Stayed on a farm in Co. Tipperary and one of the lovely family's name was pronounced like that and spelled Cliodhnadh.

After a quick googly, it is a legit spelling, but it's not very common at all, googly even corrects me on it as Cliodhna xx

Possibly. I know that in Scottish Gaelic words often end in adh that end in a when written in Irish.

Google it. If it doesn't throw up any results then it's probably not legit.

Klee-nah, Klee uh nah or Klee o nah depending where you are and how you wish the name to be pronounced at birth. It's a pretty name. I have never seen the spelling Cliodhnadh but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist of course. It's a very interesting spelling lol bit it's pretty regardless. Congrats to your sister xx

I do like the name if it's Klee o na, I was just confused by the spelling, as I've heard of Cliodhna, just not Cliodhnadh.

KLEE (uh) na is how the cliodhna I know pronounces it. (Middle 'uh' very subtle ... sounds a bit too much like 'cleaner' for me to really like this name.)

@Wolfiefan she text it to me. She lives in Scotland and I live in Wales atm. I asked her how it was pronounced but she hasn't got back to me.

Clain ah is how we say it. But I have heard cleona too.

In my experience Klee-nah in the Republic of Ireland and Klee-oh-nah in Northern Ireland.
