Girls names you like but wouldn't use

The Germany thing put a lot of lovely names beyond use for us because I hated the pronunciation they would get here. Beatrice, Rosalind, Loveday, anything beginning with J.

I love Emily, I think it ticks all the boxes a name should, and it would go excellently with our surname, but for some reason I have not yet figured out it is massively, massively popular over here in Germany, and some parents spell it Emely . So it was straight off my list for dd.

I love Ariel but DH hates it

I loved Amber, really wanted that name for my daughter then a family member used it.

My daughter has ginger hair too she would have been a perfect little amber

Antigone, Cassandra - tragic associations
Amoret, Zephryn - too unusual
Eirlys - I'm Welsh, but not Welsh-speaking; I don't want a lifetime of being told she's saying her own name wrong

Sorrel - hard to say with our surname

Angharad.
I love it, but too many people have described it as ugly or hard sounding.

I'm never quite sure how it's pronounced. Is it as it looks, ang-harrad?

So, so, many. I would applaud anybody who used any of these and think people should go with what they like and no care about others. But I'm a wuss and wouldn't use these names I love for the following reasons:

Heather- have always loved it but it rhymes with married surname

Niamh no one outside Ireland would pronounce it properly

Viola and Rosalind way too dramatic for my family
Owen/Eoin vetoed by dh because he went to school with a boy called Owen who always wore trainers to school rather than shoes

Lily and Olivia - love them both but every second girl seems to be named them.
Imelda and Sharon - adore the names but said with my accent are pure Roddy Doyle.

Indiana = too "out there" for DP
Harriet = too similar to a very close first cousin
Jean = close relative
Nancy = DP ex

If this one is a girl we'll be literally stuck.

Sadie- husband hates it!
Esther- I love it but I imagine it would be a life full of mispronunciations

Florence - DP vetoed even pre pregnancy!!

Persephone - I live in quite a working class Midlands area. Could just inagone it pronounced purse-a-phone

Raphaella - clashes with my surname, but otherwise a FANTASTIC name!

Brianna - LOVE this, however I'm a Joanna and DH is Bryan...so Brianna sounds like we are merging our two names, which is a bit tacky!

Mia (pronounced My-ah, not Mee-ah) I've always loved this name, but I hate it pronounced Mee-a, and that's what put me off it.

Generally what puts me off names is:

If there's ambiguity to how it should be spelt or pronounced
If it's too popular (e.g: LOVE Olivia, but it's way overused. Overused names tend to suddenly drop off in popularity and therefor become very dated).
If it reminds me of DH's exes, or characters on a show, or of old classmates or workmates.

Sienna. Too many chav associations.

Lucy, Emily - too many in the family
India - because Katie Hopkins
Scarlett & Savannah - because of our surname and because they don't have a nice shortening/nickname
Claudia - ExH and I had this picked out for the DD we didn't ever have

Alice because my OH sings that bloody song when I mention it.

I'm not really a hyphen person but I always liked Emma-Elise; couldn't use it as these are two of my best friends' names and everyone would think it was after them (it's not- I just like the sound of them together!).

Anastasia (my family would raise their eyebrows and say it was too 'dramatic' or something)
Kennedy - I always said if I'd been American I'd have called a girl this!!
Leia- love this but couldn't now we have a Luke in the family.
