Wolf or Grey?

Neither. Grey makes me think of 50 shades as in Christian grey, and wolf is too try hard. I do know a woman called Tiger, but she is very very cool, and if she wasn't it would be very hard to pull off. Alexander is lovely, and I think both grey and wolf jar next to it. Go for something unusual by all means, but it needs to be a proper name.

Either. I would go with Wolfe or Gray spellings. I like them.

There are many names that are nouns that are now fairly established: Autumn, Sienna, Hope etc and as a middle name, I really don't see a problem with your two. They're also not pretentious-how can anyone assume that they know your reasons unless you've said?

These will be middle names but come from our mothers' maiden names. These aren't their exact maiden names but are the closest for names sake as we don't want to use the exact surnames as they are very surname-y.

If forced to choose, I'd go for Grey, though I don't like either if Grey is just for the colour and Wolf just for the animal (as opposed to family/surname-type names, which would be OK). Grey is like calling your DC Beige, to me.

Grey is better than Wolf, and if you're going to do silly names then its preferable that its a middle name.

I did wonder if you were naming a baby or a husky from the thread title though!
