Does it just make you think Parker Bowles?

Is the nickname cami awful? Milly? Mila?

I like it. It everyone else hates it!

I just associated it with CPB, but I probably don't know posh enough people who could pull off being called camilla

Camille is too close to Carmel whihc i irrationally dislike.

I like Camilla. I came on to suggest Camille as an alternative but plenty of others already have. Without wanting to sound harsh your little Dd will be around for many years after Camilla PB is deceased and no-one will connect the names then.

Camilla is a nice name - I don't like Cami or Milla as nicknames though.

I taught a Camilla and she was a horror - loved her name though but for this reason I wouldn't use it.

I like it very much, but I loathe Milly.
That said, I only know one Camilla (elderly) and nobody shortens her name.

I really like Camilla as a name. It's quite a common name in East European countries, spelled Kamila.

Love Camille, though agree it sounds best with French pronunciation/accent.

Camilla is nice enough. CPB maybe an afterthought, but I wouldn't let that out me off. Clarissa? Only vaguely similar, but.

I'm not a fan of the name, but yes, it does make me think of the present princess of Wales. That's not a bad thing though.

And yes, Cami is awful. Millie or Milla are fine but.

It's a lovely name that hasn't been done death eg Lillie, isabel, Olivia ect also like the shortened camile

While I do think of Parker-Bowles, I think I'd get over that straight about if I met a Camilla.

Most likely nickname might be Cammy?

Just to add; there are lots of Amelies under 7 around here. It has become reasonably popular. I know a 12yr old Amelie in DS2's year and it seemed far more unusual then. I think if you looked it up it would certainly be more popular than Camilla.

I think it's a beautiful name. I'm not even remotely a royalist but CPB isn't that bad that your daughter's beautiful name would make everyone think of an old lady rather than the young girl in front of them.

But then I know a 2yr old Donald and I certainly don't think of the eijit in the WH every time I see him.

I think unless you're calling your child, Adolf then they will become the name. Smile

I like it lots. A Camilla can grow up to be anybody. And yes, as Yika says, lots of Swedish Camillas.

I'm not keen. It's just the sound I find unattractive for some reason. I do think of Parker-Bowles when I hear it, but meh. There are worse associations. That wouldn't put me off if I loved the name.

I really like Camille, as a pp suggested.
