Can I have an Edison Stevenson?

I do think it sounds rather more like a engineering company name than a person.

Of course you can call your child anything you like.

No. I don't think a surname as a first name works anyway (usually) but a surname first name with the same ending (and a very surnamey ending at that) as your actual surname sounds ridiculous.

Also, sounds like a form of solicitors or similar.

I too have a restrictive surname so totally understand any frustrations!

I have to give my full name at work many times every day. I think I would find Edison Stevenson too much of a mouthful. He'd probably have to keep spelling it as well "one d and its v not ph" every time. It would drive me crackers tbh.
Is Edgar any good?

Maybe not, but as adults we use our forename and surname together for many things, sometimes daily. So while it may not impact someone as a child, it absolutely will as an adult

We've had to rule out most ..,son names for the same reason op! I like Edison, though. It just doesn't sound great said together with Stevenson (sorry). Depends how much that bothers you.

Well if you ask people if you can have the name, of course you're asking opinions on the name? Because obviously you're "allowed".

But anyway, I actually really like it. It's quite cool and quirky

I obviously like Ed! Just not Edward, Edwin, Edmund, etc.
