DD is almost 6 weeks - no one likes our chosen name... Haven't registered her yet! I just don't know what to do :( there are lots of threads on the name, but they always get negative replies, so I doubt they end up using it. I love it... My mum isn't keen, but she keeps telling me to use it (in all fairness, she has always said that I should go with what I love) but DP's family hate it. Everyone on here hates it and say that they judge people with that name, so it puts me off. Grace would be the middle name and it's just unfortunate that it's now classed as a filler middle name (I've always loved Grace) but DP doesn't like it, so he agreed to have it for the middle. I suppose it just makes it even worse as it's a known middle name for the name.

I'm literally getting myself so upset over it.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

If it makes you feel better Madison makes me think of a very well behaved child. It doesn't sound like a naughty child's name.

Sapphire on the other hand, would be a pita.

PaintingOwls · 19/06/2017 22:37

Use the name, it's lovely, and tell the neg-gers not to be so fucking rude.

3littlebadgers · 19/06/2017 22:36

I teach a 3 year old Madison and she is a darling and bright as a button. Smile

SoftSheen · 19/06/2017 22:36

Madison isn't really my kind of name, but it is pretty mainstream and certainly not awful. I would be surprised if it provoked a strong negative reaction from anyone.

MelinaMercury · 19/06/2017 22:35

Madison is a nice name, not my personal taste but definitely bugger all wrong with it.

If you love it, go for it and forget about what anyone else has to say!

AppleSmoothie · 19/06/2017 22:34

I would just hate for teachers to judge her behaviour/family before they have even met her, or parents of other children not wanting her to come over when they hear her name. I'm getting all kinds of images in my head Sad

I like Madison and Maddie, chose the name you love and don't listen to anyone else

DearMrDilkington · 19/06/2017 22:34

Awh that's disappointing! I was hoping for Madonna or Sapphire.

Madison is fine, very non-offensive.

Funko · 19/06/2017 22:34

Good god I thought you were going to say something like Cidar or lightening or rhombus or something equally ridiculous. Madison is great, bugger what everyone else thinks. By the time she is 1 no one will EVER think about it. It will just be a name like every other in your families.

Congrats!

cushioncovers · 19/06/2017 22:34

Love the name Maddison if I'd had a girl that was my first choice

HelsinkiLights · 19/06/2017 22:34

I know a gorgeous little girl called Madison. It's a lovely name. So stuff everyone else & use what you want!

FeedMyFaceWithBattenberg · 19/06/2017 22:34

It's lovely. Use it

Amethyst975 · 19/06/2017 22:32

Madison is a lovely name! Not sure about Maddie though...

Chilver · 19/06/2017 22:32

Madison is lovely. If you like it, use it. Don't forget though that despite you using it, your daughter may decide at 4yo that she wants to call herself a shortened/ nickname version of their name like my daughter did! So you only get 'control' over your chosen name for a short time Grin so go for it!

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 19/06/2017 22:32

An awful lot of people most definitely do like madison BUT that doesn't matter anyway. You like that name and that is what counts!

RockyBird · 19/06/2017 22:32

Madison was on my list when I had DD. It is still a favourite of mine.

Congratulations Flowers

ImmortalityMyDarlings · 19/06/2017 22:32

Madison is great.

rhubarbcrumble66 · 19/06/2017 22:32

I think it's lovely. But regardless of anyone else's opinions she is your daughter and you should call her what you and your partner like.

Theyhaveallbeenused2 · 19/06/2017 22:32

She's your baby call her whatever you like..dont let others out you off.
For what it's worth I like Madison.

marmitecrumpets · 19/06/2017 22:31

It's a lovely name. Go for it!

Bloosh · 19/06/2017 22:31

Oh honestly just go with the name you have chosen. I like it!

HerRoyalNotness · 19/06/2017 22:30

Madison Grace is really lovely. If anyone irl is nasty about, tell them to get stuffed

Thebookswereherfriends · 19/06/2017 22:30

I would say nothing wrong with Madison - lovely name, not outlandish like I was expecting!
Anyone who doesn't like it will get used to it.

AppleSmoothie · 19/06/2017 22:30

Thank you. Yes, we love Maddie. We didn't want Madeleine though, due to various pronunciations and we just prefer Madison. I can't believe how many threads I've seen of it lately and then all the negative comments it gets, so it just made me feel even worse and tip me into the "I don't think I should do it" camp.

If you like it then keep it.

I was expecting you to say Chardonnay or something when you said everyone hates it! Madison is nice!
