We absolutely love a name that's seen as 'chavvy' would it be wrong of us to 'saddle' our child with it?

I think Hayden Meadows is a great name. It works for a little boy but is also a good grown-up name.

I said that, to me, Hayden is a Welsh name. I said that it's lumped in with the newish or popular names Jayden/Caidan/Aidan because it sounds like them. Aidan is popular, clearly, but not new. It's Irish and old as you know.

I know two Haydns. It's a nice name Imo, but not spelt Hayden and not with the surname meadows.

I know a few Hayden nice little boys call your son what you like honestly i can't be doing oh it is chavvy bull shit. I read a few pages back somebody thinks Ryan is a chavvy name Hmm

Hayden is nice, and Hayden meadows is fine! Though I guess other kids might rib him for it....

Jayden etc are "chavvy " imo, but so what! If you like it, use it.

Jayden Meadows is nice op! Go for it. Definitely prefer it to Hayden Meadows, though I prefer Hayden slightly as a name.

To be honest, if it's not Hayden, it was going to be Jayden GrinGrin I've never seen anyone post about it so didn't know that was hated even more, but if Hay is such an issue, Jayden Meadows takes that away. Never liked Kayden though but for no reason really.

But people on mumsnet think of very minor issues. Like how well a middle name flows, etc.

Hmmm I do like Hayden but I'm not sure about Hayden Meadows (sorry). It sounds like hay-in-meadows.

I like Aidan too, if that's an alternative.

Not too fussed on them not going. I don't think anyone is really going to piece together his name and think farm! I've met Stephen Stephensons, Tommy Thompsons, etc. and they're worse than Hayden Meadows!

Yes, Aidan is Irish, but the others were borne out of an American taste for a name that sounded like Aidan but wasn't Aidan. Confused

Hayden is a lovely name and imo doesn't deserve the hate it gets on here. One of my close relatives is a Hayden and he's kind, clever and endlessly witty, so I am a bit biased Grin

I think it's a nice name. I am from a 'chavvy', 'underclass' area and have never met a Hayden actually (I have met one actually but he was from a posher area and it was actually his nickname not his real name). I've never understood why mumsnet don't like it.

Personally I don't like hayden as a name. That's personal preference more than anything.

I do think socially it's been lumped in with the Jaden, Caiden, braden etc.

Agree with pps that some people dislike Kayden and Jayden on here and just group Hayden together with them.

I hate it when people call names chavvy. It's an odious word and lazy thinking to boot.
