Middle name for baby Octavia

My Fiance and I have the name Octavia picked out as the first name already. Our only problem is a middle name. I'm currently on week 36 of the pregnancy so I'm on a bit of a time crunch and I just need some outside advice that's not biased. Anyway these are the middle names we have picked out.

Gwendolynn
Penelope
Eileen

this last one is one that i absolutely love but it's traditionally a boys name and I'm not sure if it could work as a girls name. Rhydian.

So. what do you guys think?

I'm sorry but I think the consensus is none of your names really work although Octavia penolope is ok.

Octavia pearl sounds lovely. You do really need a shorter name for it to flow.

thethoughtfox · 19/06/2017 19:26

I had a cabbage patch doll whose name on her birth certificate was Octavia Julianne.

Admirablenelson · 19/06/2017 14:36

Why not Rhydianne? Though I do agree with a pp that a short name might work better after a long one.

Out of your names, Octavia Penelope

But how about
Octavia May (Aunt May)
Octavia Mary Jane (if you don't mind two middle names)
Octavia Harley (if you also like Batman)
Octavia Lois/Octavia Lana (if you also like Superman)
Octavia Jean (if X-men is your thing)

Love the inspiration behind Octavia, so got a bit excited!

mathanxiety · 18/06/2017 04:50

I really like Octavia Gwendolynn. I think the longer middle name has a great ring to it.

Octavia Penelope is lovely too.

I might be tempted to use Eileen as a third name after Gwendolynn.

I would not use Rhydian.

Scrumpernickel · 18/06/2017 04:49

Any of them except for Rhydian. Octavia Rhydian sounds like a tropical disease.

guineapig1 · 18/06/2017 04:46

I think I prefer Octavia Eileen - I appreciate that some might consider it a bit dated (though it could well be due a revival!) but you've explained the family connection. I think it's lovely to have a link to family with middle names.

Please don't use Rhydian. It is most definitely a boys name.

highcastle · 18/06/2017 04:36

Ugh I know I'm being annoying by deviating from the names in your OP but I actually think Octavia Pax is awesome.

highcastle · 18/06/2017 04:34

Oops sorry cross-posted. Out of the 4 in your post my favourite is Rhydian.

highcastle · 18/06/2017 04:33

Octavia Gwen is lovely. The options in your post are too long/frilly IMO.

Sdickison18 · 18/06/2017 04:23

Thank you guys for all the ideas for middle names, but honestly i was strictly looking for help deciding between the four I posted about.

Dawn
Emerald
Ruth

NorthernLurker · 17/06/2017 20:16

I think I'd use Gwen. Everything else is a bit wordy.

Lordamighty · 17/06/2017 20:15

Octavia June

midsomermurderess · 17/06/2017 20:14

Fenella comes to mind.

bridgetreilly · 17/06/2017 20:12

Octavia Gwen.

friedegs · 17/06/2017 18:14

Octavia Genevieve (similar to Gwendolynn)

Octavia Georgina

Octavia Peony (similar to Penelope)

Agree with the PP earlier that a simpler middle name works better. But out of your three, I like Octavia Penelope the best.

RandomlyGenerated · 17/06/2017 17:05

Fabia
Kodiaq
Yeti

Would work best if your surname is Skoda.

Octavia Penelope

blahthisistoohard · 16/06/2017 11:47

I also agree that a shorter middle name would fit so much better with such a long first name. Are there any 'nerdy' short named characters you can use instead? 😂

OhUnpretentiousSpud · 16/06/2017 09:32

Hexagana? Sorry Grin

How about
Alice
Jane

Maybe something simple as Octavia is quite a grand name? That said Ovatavia Penelope is lovely Smile

Lemondrop99 · 16/06/2017 09:28

Out of what you've picked, I like Octavia Penelope best.

Agree with above poster that a shorter middle name might flow better. However Eileen is nice for your sentimental reasons

I immediately thought Octavia Pearl

Goodythreeshoes · 16/06/2017 03:54

Faye, Ruth, Leah, Belle.
Octavia is a really pretty name. Have you considered a single syllable second name to go with it? Or maybe Ellen rather than Eileen?
