It's a nice name but I have a real problem with remembering it. I've met a couple of Ezras but afterwards when I try to recall them I have to cycle through lots of other names before I can come up with it. It's pleasant but clunky in my opinion.

I love it (for a boy) but would never use it as like others I think it's too trendy/try hard. Noah feels more classic to me than Ezra, too.

My DS 2 is Ezra, he is 6 yo. It suits him well! We all still love it. When we named him it was 500th most popular and is much more popular now.

I absolutely love it, always have done.
Ezra Pound and Ezra from pretty little liars come to mind.
I like Esra for a girl too.

I don't like it because Ezra on PLL is the most punchable, creepy swine that has ever existed on a show.

And that's what popularised the name.

I know an Ezra, a middle aged lady who is so sweet and lovely, it has good connotations for me.

Most people will think of the bible name when they hear it. An explanation of the Biblical character I found interesting:

An Aaronic priest, a descendant of Eleazar and Phinehas, a scholar, an expert copyist and teacher of the Law, skilled in both Hebrew and Aramaic. Ezra had genuine zeal for pure worship and “prepared his heart to consult the law of Jehovah and to do it and to teach in Israel regulation and justice.” (Ezr 7:1-6,10) In addition to writing the book bearing his name, Ezra apparently wrote the two books of Chronicles, and Jewish tradition credits him with beginning the compiling and cataloging of the books of the Hebrew Scriptures. Moreover, Ezra was an outstanding researcher, citing about 20 sources of information in the two books of Chronicles. Since many of the Jews were scattered far and wide in Ezra’s day, it necessitated the making of many copies of the Hebrew Scriptures, and likely Ezra pioneered this work.

Gah I want to like it as it's cute and short, but I know a little boy called Ezra and the first thing I thought when his name was announced is that it sounded like his parents had tried very hard for a cool/hip name Blush

I really like this one and considered it for our boy but DH was adamant it was a girls name despite being given historical proof. 😂

It's a fad. It'll date your child, if you don't mind that though it doesn't matter.

I love it and would consider using it myself if it wasn't my cat's name (he's a rescue and came pre-named).

If it helps I often shorten it to Ez or Ezzie (which ironically isn't shortening it at all...). And I'm talking about a cat so this probably isn't helping either!! Sort if I'm just slowly ruining this name for you!! He's a lovely cat though!!

I know a family with the surname Ezra, so it sounds odd as a first name to me.
