I'm in hospital having been induced and seem to have ruled out all our possible boys names. I mentioned Jasper yesterday as a new suggestion which DH instantly liked.
1 syllable surname, brother is Jonny

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Allthebubbles · 12/06/2017 19:48

I've heard it quite a lot lately, two of of friends have baby/ toddler Jaspers and there is one at my sons school. I don't love it but can't pinpoint why.

Lemondrop99 · 12/06/2017 19:42

AlaskanSnow · 12/06/2017 14:10

I know 2 Jaspers, both adults. I love it.

Maiz7654 · 12/06/2017 13:48

The OP asked what people thought of Jasper. I think it makes me think of rabbits and I explained why. That's why I mentioned a random animal ha ha. Doesn't mean I don't like the name ...

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 12/06/2017 13:47

olliegarchy99 · 12/06/2017 13:39

maybe this is because of where I live BUT this was the first thought in my mind (before jasper carrott)
Common wasps are colloquially known as "jaspers" in certain regions of England (such as Dorset and Lincolnshire, and more commonly the English Midlands), although it is not clear whether the etymology refers to the Latin name "vespa" or the striped abdomen, which echoes the striped mineral jasper.
so be careful where you live Shock

ScarletSienna · 12/06/2017 13:36

I love it and have only ever met one!

Footle · 12/06/2017 13:13

Love Jasper, I wanted it for DS2 but ExP wasn't having it, I still wish I'd have ignored him and gone for it anyway

MikeUniformMike · 12/06/2017 13:07

Jasper Conran.
Jasper National Park.
I like it.

SleepFreeZone · 12/06/2017 12:01

DS2 is a Toby and not only do I hear loads of other kids called Toby it seems to be the favoured choice of most local spaniels 🙊

So don't let pet names put you off 😜

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 12/06/2017 11:21

Great !

AnotherAnnoyingMother · 12/06/2017 11:21

LOVE it

MaidenMotherCrone · 12/06/2017 10:22

I love it. Instantly brings Jasper Tudor to mind. I'm Welsh though so probably a bit biased.😃. I love a name with an historical connection.
