It sounds like the name a teen would choose wanting to revel against her parents. I also imagine her to be a drug taker who doesn't want to work

I once met a very nice Turkish woman called Gulsen ( Ghyul-shen - I am sorry, I can't add the correct accents) - which means 'Rose Garden', I think. That has a similar 'en' sound to 'Zen' and would be a pretty name for a girl.

It can sometimes be difficult when well-recognised names from one region sound the same as words which have a different meaning in other parts of the world. For perhaps the majority of East Asian, American and European people, as previous posters have said, Zen refers to a way of following Buddhist teachings through meditiation, mindfulness, self-control and chanting sacred texts. For many English speakers, it's also become a shorthand way of saying 'chilled'.

I know a boy called Zen but he's anything but. Totally hyper which makes me smile. That's always the risk with descriptive names.

I like Zen too but I think people will think more of Zen = Chilled rather than Zen = Turkish heritage.

One of my DC's friends is named Sanaa (pronounced Zenaia) I think that is more African than Turkish though.

Sezen is lovely, then you can use Zen as a nickname although it is not half as pretty. My favourite Turkish girl's name is Senay, the name of my childhood next door neighbour and probably the most beautiful girl 7 year old me had ever seen,

It's Turkish Getout..... Kismet is Turkish for 'Fate'. The OP wants something for her heritage. Lydia is Turkish .... it's the name of the ancient kingdom where Croesus came from.

Or something totally different, like Genevieve? can shorten to Genevie or Evie?

My friend is called Lativa and her daughter is Layla .
Beautiful names and they suit them very well.
