Choosing between two names for a boy

We have many reasons for loving both of these names, but don't want to affect your reactions! Any thoughts, preferences, or side-effects/coincidences we haven't thought of, for a boy:

Alexander
Maximilian

Obvs they'll often be Alex or Max, which are fine. Thanks for any help!

I much prefer Alexander.

I like Alex and Max but not so keen on Maximilian though I know one and it suits him.

Alexander

Both Alex and Max are very popular. If that doesn't bother you, I'd choose Alex.

Alexander

Max(imilian) is my preference.

I think both are nice as short names, maybe slightly prefer Alex. However for the full versions, I think Alexander is a million times better, sorry just don't like Maximilian at all- hope I'm not offending you by that

I like Alexander more than Maximilian. But I like Max more than Alex, so since that's what they'll be called by most people, I'd go with that.

I like both but Alexander is too popular. I like Max, Maxim and Maximilian. I thought Xander was a nice short form for Alexander but I've heard of a few Zanders and the novelty has worn off.
A friend has a DGS called Max (Maximilian) so it gets a big thumbs up from me.
Alex to me is a girl's name.
