Anya is the nicest, followed by Clara.

Redpramlady · 31/05/2017 09:28

If it helps... she's likely to be blonde blue eyed if she's anything like dd

Agree I'm coming around the Philippa and I love Pippa
Juts feel I would be tainting her with a name of bad meanings with pippa 😩😩😩 so annoying!!!

Philippa Anne (Pippa), is really nice OP, you should consider it, if it's your favourite name.😀

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 31/05/2017 03:40

I love Maeve, and it's on my list for as-yet born DC. (For a girl Wink)

I also like Sidonie but think it too rhyming with Elodie.

Dixiestamp · 31/05/2017 01:33

I know a Sidonie and have always thought it sounded very unique. Also like Clara, Eloise and Romilly too.

Wingbing · 30/05/2017 18:55

Sidonie is lovely, not heard it before and I love it.

Rockaby · 30/05/2017 18:52

What about Pippa with Philippa on the bc? It seems a shame not to have your favourite name. Different if you are likely to live anywhere where it is an issue. I suspect Pippa Middleton is fairly well travelled and she hasn't had to change her name yet Smile.

Redpramlady · 30/05/2017 18:41

My absolute favourite name is pippa and I'm still so fed up that it is slang in European countries for all sorts!!

Also really like heidi but SILs name!

Most of them are challenging to spell. Some are challenging to say. You might think that's silly to care about until your child is the one with dyslexia or a speech problem.

I like Cressida, Ophelia & Amara most.

soundsystem · 30/05/2017 17:41

From your revised list, Maeve or Clary. Our DD1 was nearly called Maeve but some friends beat us to it (we hadn't discussed names).

Although I LOVE Hermione. DH vetoed it (because of Harry Potter). I think pretty much everyone knows how to pronounce it now?

Redpramlady · 30/05/2017 17:38

I like Cecily! Dh not keen

Redpramlady · 30/05/2017 17:37

I love Hermione too! But even dh pronounced it her mar nie

Jooni · 30/05/2017 17:18

I absolutely love Hermione! By far my favourite on your list Smile

Also like Anya but it doesn't sound like you're too keen, Eloise but I'd avoid if you don't want an E theme, and Romilly. Clara and Maeve are pretty and strong but don't wow me. Not mad on the others.

How about Cordelia or Cecily?

Redpramlady · 30/05/2017 16:05

Which also discounts florrianne I suppose ha but love florri

Hummm coming round to Anya a bit! Seems popular on this thread

Clara was my idea dh liked it but prefers Anya

Thing is I would like to use anne as a middle name as it's mine and dd middle name. Feel I'm starting a tradition without having to pick a random name or choose a family name from either side causing problems haha!

From your revised list Grin I really like Anya, Amara & Romilly. I really love Anya, it's my favourite by a long shot. I find Maeve dated and I don't like the v spelling of it.

Sophronia · 30/05/2017 12:58

I like Florianne and Sidonie best

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 30/05/2017 10:28

Florianne is lovely (Flori)
I also love Anya, but not the others.

RuthB4 · 30/05/2017 10:14

Maeve is just beautiful! Not so keen on the others.

temporarilyjerry · 30/05/2017 09:33

In order of preference

Romilly (but not if you already have Elodie)
Anya
Clara
Amara
Florianne
Maeve
Sidonie

Rockaby · 30/05/2017 09:17

Revised list in order if preference (favourite to least favourite)

  1. Romilly
  2. Clara
  3. Anya
  4. Maeve
  5. Florianne
  6. Amara
  7. Sidonie
superking · 30/05/2017 09:17

Of your revised list I like Clara, Anya and Romilly. Don't like Sidonie or Florianne. Neutral on Maeve and Amara.

17caterpillars1mouse · 30/05/2017 09:15

Maeve - lovely name. I really like it and Mavis but they don't go with our surname

Sidonie - I think most people will automatically pronounce it like Sydney so you and DD will spend alot of time correcting people. It's pretty but it depends if that will bother you, I know it would bother me. It's also a bit similar sounding to Elodie

Florianne - beautiful, my favourite from your list. It's so underused but so beautiful.

Cressida - it's ok just not my style. You could call her Sid for short

Hermione - I really like it but doubt you'll be able to avoid HP references. It was actually on my list for DD but I couldn't get part the UP thing and I don't even like HP (maybe if I did I wouldnt mind do much)

Romilly - pretty but I much prefer others on your list

Eloise - I actually think Elodie and Eloise work as they have completely different endings. Whereas Elodie and Sidonie sound too similar to me because they end the same.

Ophelia - a bit too frilly for me

Clara - love it

Anya - I like that you can get Annie from it but I prefer other Ann names (Anna, Anneliese, Annabel)

Amara - dislike

I would choose Elodie and Florianne or Elodie and Clara
