My neighbours have a 4 year old Lauren and there is a 15 year old in the same road. I think it's nicer than Sophie.

Sophie, Lauren is very dates,and as a person with a name that was at least 20 years "out of date" when I was born I would say it's no fun having a name that people only associate with people much older than you.

I think my name is considered an 80s/90s filler name, but I'd place it in the same category as Sophie and Lauren in that it's kind of "nice" and "safe" and, idk, not timeless as such, but classic? I knew one Lauren growing up in the early 90s, but lots of Lauras.

Lauren is a bit plain imo Sophie isn't the most exciting name in the world but it is pretty and classic.

Agreed, both lovely but Sophie is timeless and Lauren puts me straight in the late 90s....which isn't necessarily a bad thing!

Sophie has been my "this is what I will call my daughter" name for as long as I can remember. I still love it, and so does DH (win!), but I've also just decided I really really love Lauren.

I don't know whether I'm having a boy or a girl, but Laurence is on my boys list. It has made a big impression on me!

DS's name begins with J, both Sophie and Lauren sound lovely alongside his name and our surname.
I've got something else lined up for a middle name which works with both names.

Oh and baby is due any day Confused

Lauren. There are far too many Sophies around now. Lauren is virtually unheard of now.

That's something I thought I'd never have said 20 years ago.

Lauren is a really dull sounding name to me (no offence to any lurking Laurens!) I prefer Sophie.

I love Sophie.
I struggle to say Lauren - because I somehow overthink it and it comes out as L'wren - as in Ralph Lauren or indeed, Sophia Loren.
Anyway, I know I'm wrong/a twit but the two Lauren's I know, both say they prefer it my way.

Lauren for exactly this reason Lauren, because there are lots of Sophie's but Lauren is less popular, especially for girls born at the moment
