Hiya,
We have just found out we are having another girl. We have a Hettie and are struggling with names for the second.

The only name we can sort of agree on is Martha Florence but would appreciate other people's thoughts about it...

Love it.

BusterGonad · 22/05/2017 17:31

I'm not keen as I have a image of someone dowdy and build for endurance and not speed but that's obviously my problem not yours Op, it does go very well with Hettie.

sugarbeep9 · 22/05/2017 17:12

no reminds me of motherfucking marfa in i love dick (amazon series).

Shesaysso · 22/05/2017 17:10

Love it

DramaAlpaca · 22/05/2017 17:08

It's not my cup of tea at all tbh, but it does go very well with Hettie.

FeedTheSharkAndItWillBite · 22/05/2017 17:06

It is potentially a bit "scullery maid-ish", I guess? But it is a really lovely and charming name.

Rockaby · 22/05/2017 16:42

I really like it, although where I live it would become Mah-fah. That's the only reason we didn't consider it for DD.

YouWhatMate · 22/05/2017 15:11

I actually like it, even though it's not in keeping with the kind of names I normally like AT ALL.

Reminds me of the awesome Tom Waits song.

Love Martha!

Inmyownlittlecorner · 22/05/2017 15:00

I have a Martha Rosy & I love her name! Her big sister is Florence!

GinGeum · 22/05/2017 14:54

It's one of my favourite names. SIL is a Martha and it really suits her as an adult too.

yumscrumfatbum · 22/05/2017 14:51

I have a Martha she is 9. Her friends call her Marmite as it doesn't shorten well! Obviously I love it x

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 22/05/2017 14:49

Lovely OP.
I also like Marcia Florence.

batfink2605 · 22/05/2017 14:42

Thank you - think this is the name unless something amazing pops up. We are both from the teaching background so it's hard to think of names you haven't taught!

Oh and Hettie could be short for Henrietta but we just decided to go for the shorter Hettie

Lots of Marthas around now, I'm a SAHM and there's always a Martha at groups etc. Have to confess I don't like it, but it does go well with Hettie. Florence is lovely

fuzzywuzzy · 22/05/2017 14:38

Nicest

fuzzywuzzy · 22/05/2017 14:38

Love the name Martha, I associate it with a colleague who's super smart and the nicer woman I've ever met.

vitaminC · 22/05/2017 14:36

I love both Martha and Florence.
What is Hettie short for, btw? Hester? Heather?

MiniMaxi · 22/05/2017 14:33

I like it!

auntym · 22/05/2017 14:28

Martha Florence is lovely, go for it!

FunnysInLaJardin · 22/05/2017 13:53

I have 2 boys, but my girls names were Martha and Hettie Grin

I also liked Eliza.

You have excellent taste!

flumpybear · 22/05/2017 13:50

Sorry I was wrong .... domestic servants!! 🤔🤔🤔 .... it's getting quite common again

Orangedaisy · 22/05/2017 13:50

Agree, it's pretty and not too popular.

Squishedstrawberry4 · 22/05/2017 13:48

Beautiful. And would belong to a nice girl
