Tough one! Grace Madeleine is lovely, but I do like Scarlett too. I think I'd go for Grace, but only by a smidgen.

I agree with hariq . I was men on Scarlett, but thought that it sounded like an extravert 's name, and of she was plain and shy it might not suit her. Then I realised that I was unlikely to be able to tell in time to register her name!
Turns out she spends half her life on stage, and it would have suited her well. Hindsight.

I realise the name may have totally different associations for you.

Grace is lovely to though.

I prefer Scarlett by far, but they are such different names - I think you need to see what the baby looks like and her temperament before you decide between them.

Although I think the tt version seems more American
This was interesting: In 2010, 78% of the baby Scarletts out there received the traditional spelling of the name, while 22% spell it with one T. It really comes down to preference. Some people feel like the name looks incomplete without that extra T. Others feel that it looks better with only one T. Scarlett with two Ts is the traditional surname spelling (from the occupation name), while Scarlet with one T describes the color (as in ‘scarlet’ woman, ‘scarlet’ fever, ‘scarlet’ begonias, etc).

I used to love the name Grace, but I'm utterly bored of it now. Very overused as both a first and middle name.

And the spelling for the name is Scarlett, for those PPs questioning the spelling. Like Scarlett O'Hara and Scarlett Johansson.
