I've been to Muff! We went out of the way to go there... just for the craic (crack? Geddit?).

Aaaaaaaanyway, it is a nice place. We went into a shop to ask if they did postcards but sadly not. The shopkeeper said there is a lot of demand for them.

Oh dear, really don't like Dublin, I'd maybe think for a boy but wouldn't be sure?
Aberdeen is awful, I live in fife and a girl at my daughters nursery was named Fyfe and had a baby brother with the middle name Forth
Just so, so glad that wasn't his first name!!

My sis is having a boy and I'm trying to persuade her to follow this fashion of naming after place names. I'm thinking Dingle. With Dongle as a second name. Pure class that is.

DS was lucky. I used to always listen to R4 through the night, including in the maternity room the night he was born, so he could have ended up with a corker! I was sad when they stopped playing sailing away.

Oh dear God Caoraich. They live in Scotland?! I love Aberdeen - I live there and I love my home city Dublin too but I don't think I like them as names!

OH is Irish and I lived there for years. Not a chance anyone would name their baby this. I'd go with SpornStar's suggestions.

Now imagine: "Aberdeen, come in out of the rain!!" yelled across a village green in a strong Brisbane accent. In the West coast of Scotland.

The poor kid had a "nice, unusual" name in Brisbane. I suppose it's like me calling my kid Sydney then emigrating to Oz.

Back on the Dublin topic, I have just informed my OH of this thread and he says it's a fantastic, strong name for a boy.

I suspect he may be biased, being from Chapelizod (which I am reliably informed is The Best Part of Dublin).........

I have known a child with a famous city name followed by a saints name. Don't want to out myself but trust me it's shocking bad.
