I like Aurora nicknamed Rory and Aurelia nicknamed Rae. Which do you prefer?

I like both but would probably say Aurora has the edge for me. I think I prefer Rora as a nn over Rory.

I've come across a few Ariellas too; less keen on that one though.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 16/05/2017 16:08

I prefer Aurelia. But I don't like Rae as a nickname. I know a little girl with a similar name whose nickname is Lili (lee-lee, rather than Lily), which is quite cute. Though quite far away from the original name!

EmmaWoodlouse · 16/05/2017 16:00

I like the long version of both, but I can't stand Rory for a girl so I'd probably prefer Aurelia for that reason alone.

MikeUniformMike · 16/05/2017 15:17

How about Oriana? Like it and Aurora and Aurelia.

angelcakesrule · 16/05/2017 15:04

Sorry all I hear is "orally" Blush I used to work with a French girl with this name

ScarletSienna · 16/05/2017 14:24

Aurora is so hard for me to say that I much prefer Aurelia!

StarHeartDiamond · 16/05/2017 14:21

Aurelia, it's prettier

angstybaby · 16/05/2017 14:19

much prefer rae. i knew an aurelia who was rather unkindly called 'orally'. just a heads up

TheMysteriousJackelope · 16/05/2017 14:19

I prefer Aurelia as it sounds more classical. Rae is a pretty nickname.

Aurora reminds me of Sleeping Beauty and I don't like Rory as a nickname for a girl at all it is very Mallory Towers and jolly hockysticks imo.

Enidblyton1 · 16/05/2017 14:15

P.s didn't mean to offend anyone called Rae! I just think it's not a very nice shortening for Aurelia

CricketRuntAndRashers · 16/05/2017 14:15

Both are really lovely!
But I think I prefer Aurora.

Enidblyton1 · 16/05/2017 14:14

Aurora to Rory would get my vote. I rather like the contrast because if she turns out to be a girly girl she'll probably prefer Aurora. If tomboyish, she has the option of Rory.

I love Aurelia too. But you cannot butcher a beautiful name by shortening to Rae. Hideous!

Yika · 16/05/2017 14:10

I prefer Aurelia, Aurora feels odd in my mouth (it's the two or sounds together). I think Aurelia could also be shortened to Rory because it has the -ory sound already.

baconsandwiches · 16/05/2017 14:06

I love Aurora and Rory

Rockaby · 16/05/2017 10:28

Aurora by miles! I don't really like Aurelia. It's a bit flouncy to me.

Bananamanfan · 16/05/2017 07:22

I don't get the areola connection. You say or-ray-lee-yuh.

GinSwigmore · 16/05/2017 07:11

Aurélie

SuperBeagle · 16/05/2017 07:10

Aurora.

Aurelia always screams areola to me.

Bananamanfan · 16/05/2017 07:07

Aurelia

harderandharder2breathe · 16/05/2017 07:06

Aurora

chickpeaburger · 16/05/2017 00:40

Found it...Areola

chickpeaburger · 16/05/2017 00:39

I can't take this thread seriously. The next thread was entitled "Placenta", so now I'm thinking Aurelia, Auroura (you've no idea how many times I've just had to check your spelling on that) plus I'm getting really confused. What's the word for the aur...bit round the nipples?

SoftBlocks · 16/05/2017 00:28

Aurelia.

Kimonolady · 16/05/2017 00:24

Love Aurelia (or Aurelie.)
Aurora is too Sleeping Beauty for me.

Sophronia · 16/05/2017 00:22

Aurelia. Aurora is getting trendy.
