Surely the clue that the name is a pain in the arse is that they have to tell you how to say it on their website?

You may as well call the child Shelf, Spoon, Sausage or Sidepannelofatractor and tell people to pronounce it Shay.

It's difficult to prove it's not a fake name I've just made up without providing "evidence" but when I provide it, people think I'm advertising.

Someone else called Michelle has the nicknames "Chelly" and "Shay". If you want to use Shay as a nickname, that's not the same as pronouncing a totally different name "Shay".

The other founder of that website is a female called Merlyn. It's probably not the best place to head to for baby name inspiration.

The poor woman has even got "Chelly (pronounced Shay) on her bio. I suppose you could go for Pronounced-Shay as a middle name?

I can guarantee that not one single person who reads that name will ever instinctively know that it's pronounced as Shay. Your child will have to correct everyone and it will get right on their tits. And everyone will think it's just idiotic that you chose to spell it that way rather than thinking it's cool or quirky. Sorry to be harsh OP but that is honestly what I predict.

If I saw that written down. I'd think it was pronounced Shelley short for Michelle.
If you want it pronounced Shay there are lots of interesting ways to spell it without resorting to being daft.

Give the kid a break, imagine the lifetime of official form filling mistakes.
Any of these names are ok pronounced as they are spelt, I quite like Shey but spelled Shelly.....facepalm to infinity.
