Aubrey or Avery?

We don't like Audrey.

Which do you prefer? Aubrey or Avery?

Can people please not be extremely negative? I can deal with some, but I'm extremely stressed. She needs to be registered soon and I'd really like it to be a name we like without being put off.

I love Aubrey for a girl. It's on my list. Much prefer it to Avery x

I always thought Aubrey was a boy-only name, but a friend's niece has been called this and I've got used to it now. It's cool and sweet all-in-one. Have started noticing Americans using this as a female name now too.

Think I prefer it to Avery on balance, though that's nice too.

Aubrey is much nicer. Not as keen on Avery, I do know a baby girl called Avery and I actually think they both sound like girls names so I don't see that as a problem.
People will, can and do pick holes in any names and will associate it with different things. Go with your gut instinct and it will all be fine.

I know you're saying 80 girls got named it but I still see Courtney, Taylor and Ashley as boys names no matter how many girls I meet with those names. In fact I adore all of the above for boys, and can't stand them on girls.

That being said I do have a bit of a unisex name and it doesn't bother me when I meet guys with the same name I just think it suits me better

There's also a (male) deatheater in HP called Avery. But I don't think he's all that famous.

Aubrey is cute! No keen on Avery- there is a male character on Nashville with that name.

They are both surnames but Aubrey has a long tradition of being used as a first name and I don't think Avery has.

I know a girl named Aubrey and a man named Avery. And, according to stats, Aubrey is apparently a currently surprisingly popular girl's name (whereas Avery is still more popular for boys than for girls)...

I prefer Avery. I think if you go for Aubrey you'll be constantly explaining it's not Audrey.

Aubrey. Avery is definitely a boy's name... Aubrey does seem a bit girlier, not sure why, tbh.

But Audrey would be nicer. At least imo.
