Thank you in advance

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

'This thread is beyond depressing. Seriously'

Isn't it just. And what's worse is they're parents.

DramaAlpaca · 01/05/2017 22:31

Thank you ClaraMumset.

Lepetitmarsellais · 01/05/2017 22:30

Why is it plain to see from that quote Navy? Only if you hold some kind of opinion on those names. Which surely you don't as that would be terribly ignorant of you

'I'm not discussing my own daughter's name as potentially identifying and I'm not interested in opinions on it - I'm very confident in the choice we made.'

I suppose it could be identifying if people matched her name with your unpleasant character.

Floggingmolly · 01/05/2017 22:30

Is it Ezmerelda, Lepetit? Quite cowardly, to decide "not to discuss" your own choice, whilst deriding other people's choices as chavvy.
If you're that confident it passes the chav test; post it and let us judge for ourselves.

It's an anonymous forum.

ClaraMumsnet · 01/05/2017 22:29

Hi all, can we just remind you of our Talk Guidelines on personal attacks? We're here to make parents' lives easier. "Chav" is a very contentious word and we'd appreciate people bearing that in mind when responding to these threads.

forfuckssakenet · 01/05/2017 22:29

Chav means what it means in my ends. You think what you want, you jump on as you wish. Says more about you than us. To me is common, that's how it is here.

Lepetitmarsellais · 01/05/2017 22:27

I "ran away" because I know how MN reacts to the term chavvy!

DramaAlpaca · 01/05/2017 22:26

Chav has a completely different meaning to common in the sense of popular.

msgrinch · 01/05/2017 22:26

Well please come to Horsham and ask everyone I'm sure they will agree with me.

Lepetitmarsellais · 01/05/2017 22:26

I'm not discussing my own daughter's name as potentially identifying and I'm not interested in opinions on it - I'm very confident in the choice we made.

I will say though that when it's brought up in name threads it's never called chavvy!

Floggingmolly · 01/05/2017 22:26

Chav doesn't mean common in the "used a lot" sense, msgrinch, don't be disingenuous. You know perfectly well what designating something as common means.

Common in the sense of overused forfuck as in "You went and brought the samsung 8, isn't it getting a bit chavvy?" ... Common: many people have it.

forfuckssakenet · 01/05/2017 22:25

Oh I see. Common as in 'used often' ...

What a lot of shite. Chav does not mean that. Here or anywhere else.

*Chav is a word for common here.
*
Yes and that's exactly the problem and why it's discriminatory and judgemental Hmm ffs.

Lepetitmarsellais · 01/05/2017 22:23

Nobody has called anybody a derogatory name. OP asked for opinions on the name and a few have agreed that the NAME is chavvy. I don't think anybody is going around abusing people in the street.

msgrinch · 01/05/2017 22:23

No it's no derogatory it means common here. As i said in my previous post. It's like Mia/Jaydon/Chelsea/Tyler... Common. Used alot. You then lynched in insulting me for having an opinion. Chav means common here....as i said in my first post. No need for you to call me thick etc.

user1487175389 · 01/05/2017 22:22

I just always think of Sienna Miller when I hear it.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 01/05/2017 22:21

It makes you wonder if people who use the word chav also think racist, sexist and disablist comments are acceptable too..

Highly likely.

Floggingmolly · 01/05/2017 22:21

Probably Emily. Or Suzanna... Not Petunia, I hope?
