Thank you in advance

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FreeNiki · 01/05/2017 22:56

Senna laxatives came to mind

Lepetitmarsellais · 01/05/2017 22:55

Because you know they wouldn't call a child Kayden. Because you know that it's a working class name. Because you hold opinions on names the same as everybody else.

forfuckssakenet · 01/05/2017 22:54

And what wills and Kate call their children has to do with us exactly? We should care why? Hmm ffs

Lepetitmarsellais · 01/05/2017 22:53

But the sad truth is, people DO form opinions based on names. More often than not subconsciously. If you can honestly exist in a bubble where you're capable of never doing that then well done, you've evolved above most.

As for not giving a fuck what a judge's name is, that's all very well but the reality is certain names would have hindered them getting there in the first place.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 01/05/2017 22:52

'You could honestly imagine William and Kate calling a third child Kayden?'

So do you think anything that might indicate working class is 'chav'?

forfuckssakenet · 01/05/2017 22:48

She doesn't have to have a neutral view. She, unlike you, is refusing to perpetuate the classist and discriminatory connotations associated with some names.

You referred to the 'high court judge test' earlier. If your daughter was to become a high court judge I wouldn't be giving a fuck what her name was but, as an interested citizen, I'd for damn sure be hoping her intelligence, social outlook and cultural awareness was more akin to navy's than to yours.

Love it!

Rantymare · 01/05/2017 22:44

I love it, but I've known of two lapdancers who use it as their stage name.

LesLavandes · 01/05/2017 22:43

OP. Pay zero attention to these ridiculous comments. Take the second 'n' out perhaps? If these idiots make you feel uncomfortable. And they are idiots. Laughing at them. Classy name. Believe me 😊

Ps. Dying to know what krappy names they gave their little precious darlings 😂😂😂

Lepetitmarsellais · 01/05/2017 22:43

So Navy, outside of MN you have a completely neutral view on those names? You could honestly imagine William and Kate calling a third child Kayden?

regardless of whether you use the word chavvy or not you know that there are differences.

forfuckssakenet · 01/05/2017 22:40

I can only hope that none of the chav police on this thread work in hr or deal with recruitment.

Making assumptions based on a name is unacceptable.

Floggingmolly · 01/05/2017 22:38

Chav = trendy? Give over Hmm. Stop using words you don't understand if you don't want to be misconstrued.

msgrinch · 01/05/2017 22:37

No Navy not at all, just explaining how the word is used where I live. No need for all the bile really. Im sorry if you were offended. It's not an offensive word here.

But nobody here knows the names of the children on your road, msgrinch Confused.

RainbowJack · 01/05/2017 22:36

Chav means what it means in my ends.

Perhaps the people in your ends should pick up a dictionary.

Chav

Word Origin

noun, Chiefly British Slang: Disparaging and Offensive.
1.
a person who wears fashionable brands, flashy jewelry, etc., but is regarded as having bad or lower-class taste.

Not derogatory my arse.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 01/05/2017 22:36

^'Mia = about 8 of them in the road, Tyler= 2 of my godsons, Jaydon = 5 of FB friends sons etc.'*

So by that logic in Cheltenham Ladies College Pippa and Annabel must be chav names...

msgrinch · 01/05/2017 22:36

Any way. I apologise if you think it was offensive. Its not offensively used here at all. Its just slang for "over used/a bit too trendy". Not anything horrible at all.

Katie Hopkins is that you?

Lepetitmarsellais · 01/05/2017 22:35

Yes, but how did you know that? Only if you also formed an opinion on names like Tyler and Jaydon, surely? Otherwise it would just have been a random list of names

msgrinch · 01/05/2017 22:34

Yes its very clear what i meant navy ... As i said its very very chavvy.... Mia = about 8 of them in the road, Tyler= 2 of my godsons, Jaydon = 5 of FB friends sons etc.

No Clara mumsnet ... don't panic. Where grinch lives (Horsham) it just means common. Not poor people common but common as in used a lot. Where I live ( la la land) it means unicorn 🦄 piss. It means what it means. We aren't being offensive so it's not offensive. We can decide on new meanings for words even if it's nonsense just because we want to. That cool with you?
