Thank you in advance

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I like it, it's a pretty name.

My only reservation (as mentioned by a pp) is that it's the name of an unpleasant character in Hollyoaks. I doubt anyone will remember that by the time your daughter goes to school though.

Lepetitmarsellais · 01/05/2017 23:15

So are we now making ASSUMPTIONS on how other posters vote?

Sorry to disappoint. Fully paid up member of the Labour Party actually.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 01/05/2017 23:15

'Actually I do work in recruitment and any CVs where the name begins with a J or a K goes straight in the bin'

What, like James and Kate?

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 01/05/2017 23:13

'Show me a list of Chardonnays and Summer-Maes and maybe you'd have a point.'

Well I think we'd need to wait a generation don't you, seeing as those are very modern names? But I sincerely hope that forty years from now all the professions are littered with Chardonnays and similar. Although I'm sure even you know that it's socio economic reasons that prevent working class kids from breaking through these barriers rather than just their name. But if the current government continues as it has been, social mobility will continue to be stunted. Which sadly will please some people...

Because you are 1. Identifying names as having working class connotations 2. Suggesting these names will hold people back

forfuckssakenet · 01/05/2017 23:11

Your attitude is disgusting.

I hope Bobbie or Sonia the high court judges are on MN and come along to hand you your arse on a plate.

I sincerely hope you are not in charge of any staff in your job and certainly I hope you are not responsible for admissions or recruitment.

Lepetitmarsellais · 01/05/2017 23:11

French names in Canada unlikely to be working class though.

How am I discriminating against the working classes exactly?

forfuckssakenet · 01/05/2017 23:07

I know it's outrageous really. Next thing you know Tyler might be learning to read or something! (Clutches pearls).

When I was doing my masters I'm certain I referenced a Dr Chantelle somebody. Can't find her now right enough.

Lepetitmarsellais · 01/05/2017 23:06

Sue, Lucy, Nicola - all quite bland names unlikely to affect chances. Bobbie probably applied to university as Roberta. The only slightly surprising name there is Sonia.

Show me a list of Chardonnays and Summer-Maes and maybe you'd have a point.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 01/05/2017 23:04

I was googling High Court Judge names too and thought MN will be horrified by a Bobbie getting above her station!

You know Judges have all sorts of names right? Like Kevin (not a minion but a JUDGE, mind = blown)

forfuckssakenet · 01/05/2017 23:03

You challenge all kinds of discrimination except for the kinds against the working class you like to perpetuate on mumsnet.

Lepetitmarsellais · 01/05/2017 23:02

Why wouldn't they choose Bertie? What kind of name is Bertie?

Stop making assumptions about Kayden's parents.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 01/05/2017 23:02

'I challenge all kinds of discrimination actually...'

😅

And then you think enough of the challenging, I'll head to the naming boards on MN and chuck the word chav about.

forfuckssakenet · 01/05/2017 23:02

Sonia
Nicola
Bobbie
Sue
Lucy

All female high court judges.

With women like you who needs the patriarchy. HmmConfused

I pity you if you don't understand that it can.

I challenge all kinds of discrimination actually but I'm not going to use my own child as some kind of moral crusade by giving them a name that will disadvantage them.

So you for you chav is interchangeable with working class.

forfuckssakenet · 01/05/2017 22:57

If you honestly think that a name holds a person back then I genuinely pity you and your small minded ways. You have just rolled over and accepted discrimination. Thankfully there are plenty of people out there in the world who don't and will continually challenge it.
