She is 6 weeks today and we had an appointment booked, but it was cancelled and rescheduled for Monday.

It's my surname that's the problem! I love nature/colour names... But my surname is Forest (not even spelt like the name version!)

My son is Noah and I almost didn't go with it because I thought "know a forest?" but just went with it and it hasn't been an issue (he is now 5) but I can't have a nature name/colour name and then Forest.

I'm not particularly keen on names that have lots of nicknames (Elizabeth, Catherine, etc.) and like names that are popular, unfortunately!

I think Darcy is my only choice... It's okay, but I don't love it. However, I hate the Darcey spelling, same with Maisy, I like it, but hate the Maisie spelling :(

Thank you!

I love the name Darcy and think it would work well. I also think that Dahlia Forest has a nice ring to it. I also really like the name Delphine or Delphie. There's also Rose and Sienna.

I think it's a lovely surname and you can have pretty much anything!

Lemonnaise · 28/04/2017 19:31

*Dara? Thought to be derived from the word for 'oak tree' in old Irish, but sounds quite nice with Forest?

Lovely name but Dara is actually a boys name here in Ireland.

Briony Forest

FeedTheSharkAndItWillBite · 28/04/2017 19:22

Jenny

I actually have a really uncommon name (doesn't appear on the namestatistics in the Uk. At least not for the least 100 years, I think) and people pretty much never misspell it (except for Starbucks, of course...)

There is a well known American yoga teacher called Anna Forest.
She has a company called Forest yoga.

Anna
Catherine (Katie, Kate)
Titania (midsummer nights dream fairy of the Forest)
You could go all out with Bluebell Forest or Honeysuckle Forest or even Ruby, Scarlet or Summer.
Lots of fantastic names would work brilliantly

JennyHolzersGhost · 28/04/2017 19:17

OP I have the most boring name in the world and I still have to spell it on the phone because there are multiple versions. So don't let the need to spell it out deter you ! Go for what you actually like.

Aquamarine1029 · 28/04/2017 19:13

I actually like Amber Forest. I think it's really pretty. Brooke Forest is nice, too.

How about
Layla Forest

Ella Forest
Charlotte Forest
Isabel Forest
Erin Forest

TheHiphopopotamus · 28/04/2017 18:27

What nature names were you thinking of? Obviously Autumn/Summer Forest are out, as are Willow and Leaf (maybe).

But some might sound nice. I like the alliteration of Freya Forest (suggested upthread), she sounds like she would be a Nordic elf (in the best possible way).

Don't like Darcey or Maisie though, they're quite popular names round here. Forest is an awesome surname though.

flissfloss65 · 28/04/2017 18:26

I know a Hannah Forest and always thought it sounds nice.

FeedTheSharkAndItWillBite · 28/04/2017 18:21

Btw, Op, I'm actually genuinely jealous of your surname. DH's surname is a hyphenated mess with a weird pronounciation. And he was also really emotionally attached to it... (What a weirdo. I mean, he's my weirdo, so it's alright. But his surname is awful)

blueskyinmarch · 28/04/2017 18:19

What about straightforward names like Hannah, Rebecca, Megan, Chloe, Anna, Lauren etc?

FeedTheSharkAndItWillBite · 28/04/2017 18:16

Heteronormative

I was also thinking of Amber Forest when I said gemstone names would imo work. Although, tbh, I think Saphira would work as well...

Louisa Forest would be really pretty imo.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 28/04/2017 18:13

Darcy will date, badly.
Maisy is too cutesy.

I don't think something like (say) Amber is a problem with Forest. Nor is (say) Fleur. How about something like Melissa (bee/honey)? Or something very simple and classic like Anna?

I love Sylvia, but then you would indeed be calling her Forest Forest Grin

FeedTheSharkAndItWillBite · 28/04/2017 18:03

I love Dara Forest, that sounds lovely!

I actually prefer Darcy and Maisy to Darcie/Maisie...

I think gemstone names would go really well with your suname...

MadisonAvenue · 28/04/2017 17:51

I would automatically think that the spellings were Darcy and Maisy.
