Pretty sure these are my final 2 choices

Kitty
Violet

Which one and why? i dont want there to be multiple people in her class / friend group with this name so thats why im swayed towards Kitty as violet is climbing. All opinions welcomeSmile

Don't like either but think Kitty could only work as a nick name. Violet sounds like it is going to be very popular so you need to be happy with that.

harderandharder2breathe · 29/04/2017 22:48

Kitty only as nn for Katherine (or Kathleen etc). Not on it's on.

I like Katherine nn Kitty more than Violet but Violet more than full name Kitty

Bibs2014 · 29/04/2017 22:41

Violet

woodywoody · 29/04/2017 22:36

all my family prefer Violet. I think i do too but the popularity puts me off. But might have to just get over that. Lark is a pretty name :)

What does your partner think? Mine would have vetoed Kitty I think!

Badgoushk · 29/04/2017 20:58

For middle names what about Lark or Wren?
Kitty Lark
Violet Lark
Kitty Wren
Kitty Lark

Murine · 29/04/2017 20:57

Definitely Violet

Badgoushk · 29/04/2017 20:53

I like both but...

Kitty does sound like it's for a young girl and not a grown woman. I would also tire of Hello Kitty jokes.

Violet is very pretty but I can imagine people querying "Violent?!" when hearing the name.

Littlefoxy · 29/04/2017 20:43

Kitty would be my choice. the name violet reminds me too much of the word violence

porterwine · 29/04/2017 16:41

100% Violet..in my top 5!

Mollie85 · 28/04/2017 20:43

Kitty. My nickname and I'm a Kirsty...

Sometimes I get Kit too... 😀

woodywoody · 27/04/2017 09:49

being as indecisive as i am, i am now starting to like Violet moreConfused Kitty Faith is very nice though. Think i will just have to wait and see which one i choose. Smile

Love Violet - such a cool name. Was a possibility for my dd but when she arrived she was a big sturdy baby and just didn't really look like a Violet so we went for something else. Now she is a petite teenager and would have suited the name so I wish I had stuck to my guns.

Love Kitty for a baby, toddler and small child but not for a teenager or woman - so would go with Katherine. I personally don't like Kit for the bc at all.

Reow · 27/04/2017 09:09

Both lovely

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 27/04/2017 09:07

Both names are lovely. If you go for Kitty how about Kitty Faith unless your surname starts with C.

Rockaby · 27/04/2017 09:03

Love the idea of Kit on the BC! I think it's a lot cooler.

I don't see why it's a boys' name anyway. It's a nn originally, so not traditionally speaking a boy or girl name. I don't think. I mean Chris and Jackie could be either couldn't they? Don't mention Bill or Bob Grin.

ilovepixie · 26/04/2017 23:34

My mums cat is called kitty!

woodywoody · 26/04/2017 23:20

so i was thinking, what about just Kit on the BC and then Kitty as a nickname? thoughts on this? I know Kit is a boys name but it is a girls name too!

I'm really not keen on any of the longer names such as Katherine. I'm really liking just Kitty at the moment... Any more middle name recommendations would be good, as i said one syllable would probably be better with last name :)

Don't like either. But love Katherine.

pipilangstrumpf · 26/04/2017 14:01

Kit or Kitty sound so cutesy and childish imo.

Violet is a proper name and much more elegant

BasicBetty · 26/04/2017 13:19

I like both, sorry!
If pushed, I'd go with Violet.

FizzyGreenWater · 26/04/2017 10:50

Katherine Violet or Katrina/Catriona Violet known as Kitty.

All good and it's just nice to have options.

FeedTheSharkAndItWIllBite · 25/04/2017 22:45

I love Kitty as a nickname. But not for the bc...

Katherine, Kate, Katerina, Katarina, Catrin... I prefer all of these to Kitty for the bc.

Love the suggestion of using Violet as a middle name.
