I have just come across someone who proudly bears the name of Buckmaster de Wolf. It is the awesomest name I have ever heard! Does anyone have any similar awesome names?

Gimble I knew someone whose surname was Bedgood Shock!

BikeRunSki · 25/04/2017 08:14

DDad had a hand Japanese/half Scottish colleague called Yakimoto Hamilton. As a child in the 1970s, I loved that combo, and the exotic imagery it conjured up.

I knew a family whose last name was Gotobed, pronounced exactly as it sounds! Always thought that the nighttime routine at theirs would be funny!

And we had a teacher at school whose name was Gay Hancock, always had to stifle a laugh with her.

Justmadeperfectflapjacks - my orthodontist was also Gordon Bennett! Were you in the NE?

elQuintoConyo · 25/04/2017 07:37

Oh and I have had dealings with a gynaecologist named Dr Fuca. This was in Italy. I told him what it sounded like in English - luckily he thought it was hilarious.

I've always loved that Ralph Feinnes full name is triple-barrelled: Ralph Thistleton-Twickham-Feinnes* fancy-schmancy!

  • if memory recalls - i get a bit wobbly brained and thigh-rubby thinking about lovely Ralphy

Laird MacLean a real sweetie, mature student at college. Wasn't a Laird or Scottish but always wore a tartan tie.

Used To work (abroad) with a Mr Wanko - pronounced van-co.
Always amusing when London based clients would call asking to speak to him.

Littlefish · 25/04/2017 06:08

As a child, there was a lovely old lady who lived near us. She had the absolutely wonderful middle name "By-the-sea". Her surname was Shaw, making her xxxxx By-the-sea Shaw (pronounced Shore). I remember being fascinated by this very elderly lady with such a romantic name and always wondered about her creative/wacky parents who must have named her in about 1910.

No way, FamilySpartan! I wish I actually knew her. I only came across her as my friend took her booking at Ticketmaster many years ago and was really tickled by her name.
