Emmanuelle first impressions?

First impressions on Emmanuelle? It's the only girl's name so far that DH & I both like, but the few Emmanuelle's we've known have been French and I'm not confident it works outside French culture? We don't have French heritage btw. Nickname probably Emmy.

I had a lovely French friend when I was in my twenties whose name was Emmanuelle (sometimes shortened to 'Manu'). Also thought of the porn films, but I suspect I, and most others who have that association, are of a certain age and I can't imagine anyone will have heard of the films by the time she grows up (except properly old people Grin). It's a lovely name. They shouldn't be allowed to use lovely names in horrible films Angry

Makes me think of churches (church in my home town called Emmanuel - not going to hear the difference when spoken) and religion in general. But I guess I'd like the 'old' sound of the name so not really a negative impression for me.

It was a series of soft porn films in the 70s but most people younger than, say, mid to late 40s probably won't make that connection
