Names that made you think wtf?

My friends Mum recently had a baby and couldn't think of a middle name for her newborn girl. The Mum has a teenage sister, so whilst walking to the birth registration place, she let her pick the middle name just so her daughter had one. Turned out to be a normal name but what a way to pick a name.

There was a boy in my year who's middle name(s) were Ryan Giggs.

Anyone else come across strange reasons/funny names that made you wonder why the parents would want to put there child through it? Grin

I lived in Malawi for a little while and the names there tend to be a mixture of traditional Malawian names, traditional western names and English words. A lot of these are lovely - like Gift and Happy - but Jealousy is quite a common girls' name and I also met a little girl called Lonely.

There's a Scottish footballer with the surname Goodwillie but some fans call him Badwillie because he got in trouble with the law for something

Two kids used to come into my work place a lot called Plum and Bean (girl and boy - actual names).
I also went to school with kids called Red Red and James Bond.

well, the Queens new Lord Lieutenant (or something) in Bristol is called Peaches Golding.
So names don't have to hold you back!

I went to school with a Willy (William) Rash!!

My husband is also a doctor who recently worked in paediatrics and came across some interesting names including 'Loki Slayer' 😱

Marilyn, in that case (feeling a bit shorty about this idiot woman) what is Wrong with people?!?!

I saw a client yesterday whose middle name was Bunny, but I thought that was a bit sweet and could see how in post-natal euphoria a beautiful baby girl could make you think "Bunny" for a middle name (first name was something normal like Julia or Sarah). But first names that are laughable are a bit cruel.

I know an Irishman with the middle name Mary - named after the midwife. Not expected to live long. He's in his 70s now

At work I was emailing with Prince-William and Lovely.
Had to deal with people from all over the world and found people from Nigeria and Philippines to have the most 'creative names'.

I have Also come across a few male colleagues (Dutch) having Maria as their middle name and was a bit Confused.

Hmm, very dubious about Bob Shrunkle being their real name; it seems awfully coincidental that pretty much everyone with the surname 'Shrunkle' in Facebook or LinkedIn in called Bob!!

Wish that were the case!

I was so disbelieving that anyone could truly saddle their son with "Toffee" that I immediately looked up a couple of print articles by the same woman.
And, yep, that was the genuine spelling, and wasn't just his NN.

It was 11ish yrs ago, so poor lad must be 17ish now. I'm guessing he hot-footed it down to Deed Poll the first chance he got...

IIRC, she was either Aussie or American, but definitely English-speaking and would've been fully aware of context. Was a militant protester-activist, so maybe naming kids after random foods was commonplace in such a radical lifestyle?? Wink
