What is your opinion one the baby name charleston?

I'm 32 weeks and I have always wanted to call my baby boy Charlie, but recently come across this name and like the uniqueness. I want people's honest opinion on the name.

Not too keen myself, but I don't see what's wrong with the name? I also don't buy that a child's name can't be used because it's the name of a city or dance? If you love it, go for it.Wink

Awful. Like an old fashioned 30's dance. Go for Charles or just Charlie.

It's nice and unique but not too out there. Also you can totally get 'Charlie' as a nn from it.

I would assume you had misheard/ misspelt Charlton.

It's a dance or a city. It's not a name.

I believe tin is Saxon for an enclosed village or farmstead Abernathy

Charlton also an established name for a human. Charleston is not

Imo charleston is a ridiculous attempt at making Charles 'less mainstream'. And it sounds horrible. Just call him Charles and Charlie for short. One of my favourite names Grin

I would think I had misheard you. Sorry it's just not a name to me. Not usually a fan of nicknames as full names but Charlie is lovely just as it is.

Charleston is a great city.
And a 1920s dance, so both quite cool connotations.
I quite like it actually.

I'd go with Charlton which is an actual name. Charlie Brooker is a Charlton. But actually Charleston isn't too bad - there's a long history of naming babies after cities.

Very snobby American, IMO. The kind of guy you might see on a show like Gossip Girl.

I think it would be one of those names that was only revealed to his friends at the altar, on his wedding day. They would all turn to one another with amused surprise, because he will have only ever been known as Charlie.

Charlton is slightly better than Charleston. Does Charlie needs to be short for anything though? If you don't like Charles, just use Charlie.

Charlie is great but Charleston is awful. It's like calling your kid waltz or rhumba.

Just call him Charlie if that's the name you like.
