Middle name for Alice?

troodiedoo · 13/04/2017 20:10

Surname is quite blunt and masculine sounding, beginning with p.

Possible contenders are:

Gwendoline (family name)
Maria
Ruby
Emerald (dd1 has jade so thought it would be cool to continue the gemstone theme)
Ciara
Cara
Naomi

Further suggestions welcome :)

Consider the initials AMP is not good, neither is ALP unless you want the child to have such a nickname.

Please don't choose May or Rose as a middle name... almost every girl I know has one or the other (ok so exaggerating a bit but it does feel like it sometimes... they are the 21st century equivalents of the 1970's Ann, Jane and Louise!) lots of the longer suggestions are lovely and with both the first name and surname being short I would go long in the middle personally. Alice Aurora is wonderfully alliterative!

elderlee · 14/04/2017 11:31

There's an Alice Rose and an Alice Mary in our family

PyjamasBySeven · 14/04/2017 07:02

My cousin's DD is Alice Mae.

I'm pretty sure that Esmeralda is the Spanish for emerald.

BikeRunSki · 14/04/2017 06:57

Omg, Alice Josephine is fabulous!

troodiedoo · 14/04/2017 06:55

Thank you all. Flowers Well if anything I now have more of a choice. She's getting registered on 24th April so time to see what sticks.

I have an Alice Josephine!
I wasn't convinced they went together, but Alice was the only first name we could agree on, and I had a really cool great aunt called Josephine that I wanted to name my daughter after!

LovelyBranches · 13/04/2017 21:25

Thea

DramaAlpaca · 13/04/2017 21:25

I love Alice Emerald and Alice Ruby to carry on the gemstone theme.

Alice Gwendoline is nice too.

troodiedoo · 13/04/2017 21:23

I was convinced Alice would be a boy till we had the scan. She was going to be John.

Our boy would have been Alice Elizabeth if he'd been... well, a girl. Obviously Grin

You are all on the same wavelength as me! I'm so glad I discovered mn.

Gwendoline is the front runner I think. Half tempted to give her loads of middle names Grin

I'm not convinced Cara and Ciara work with Alice, lovely names though they are. Any of the others go well together. In view of the short first name and surname, I'd probably go for a longer middle name, so maybe Gwendoline or Emerald from your list.

Other ideas:

Alice Rosamund
Alice Madeleine
