@lovemyname thanks for replying.
I think it's lovely. I also like lolo/lola as a nickname and was hoping you were gonna say something like that!

Now to convince DP! I've got 4 months left to do so lol xx

Can't stand Delilah.

lovemyname · 17/04/2017 16:51

Oops sorry... my DH usually calls me Lolo!

lovemyname · 17/04/2017 16:49

Catherine, not very often!
My DH usually me Lolo if he's talking to me but if he was talking to others about me he'd always say Lois.
When I was a wee girl my neighbour called me Lucy and an uncle called me Glory Hmm

Catherinebee85 · 17/04/2017 10:56

@lovemyname

Do you get anyone shortening your name, or any nicknames?

Love Lucia and like Lois but the others not so much..

PunkAssMoFo · 11/04/2017 18:48

I really like Lucia from your list

lovemyname · 11/04/2017 13:04

Name changed for this (obviously) Grin

My name is Lois and I absolutely love it!!
Mainly because it's unusual & very uncommon. Thank You Dad Halo

I've only ever met one other Lois, when I was very young but she married and moved away.
I've never met another Lois since although there was a girl working in our local shopping centre a few years ago who checked who I was, then told me her dad gave her Lois as a second name and always told her it was because when he heard my name he loved it!!

The other thing I'd say is that some people have a problem spelling and pronouncing it Confused not sure why it's so difficult but I do get Louis or Louise at times.. the last time I got really annoyed as the person has known me since I was about 4yo so yes.. I did correct her! Not sure she was too impressed but my goodness it sure felt good Grin

Oh yes.. and the old chat up line 'You're Lois, can I be your Superman? Hmm

CarrieWatermelon · 11/04/2017 12:55

Prefer Lila to Delilah, but its OK

Eloise - don't love it. Prefer Elodie or Lois

Alana - dislike, bit nothing-et

Elise - nice, not over-used, pretty

Lois - like a lot, classy

Lucia- OK, Lucille more classic

Elissa - sounds made up, prefer Alicia

Alex - love, but needs a formal name (Alexandra, Alexa etc)

17caterpillars1mouse · 11/04/2017 12:49

Delilah - I find it a bit twee
Eloise - pretty enough but I know quite a few
Alana - dislike
Elise - I prefer Eloise
Lois - I like until I remember it reminds me of the wife in family guy
Lucia - pretty my favourite from your list
Elissa - find it bland
Alex - I like as a nickname for Alexandra or Alexa

Catherinebee85 · 10/04/2017 20:37

Thanks for your responses. I threw in Alex because that's DPs choice. I don't think Alex is a full name for a girl but quite like Alexa! Still lots of time to ponder. Probably will have to veto Elissa anyway as new niece is called Eliza x

I like Elise, Elissa and Delilah. Lois is also really nice.

I'm really not a fan of Eloise and I don't like Alex (it's a nn imo)

BertrandRussell · 10/04/2017 18:35

Delialah is only twee if you don't know anything about the two most famous ones...

GirlcalledJames · 10/04/2017 17:15

I also think Delilah is twee.
And Lois is too close to louse.
All the others are beautiful.

goldenrachita · 10/04/2017 16:23

Delilah- a bit twee. There are SO many Lila, Leila, Lyla, Lolas at the moment too.
Eloise- elegant, pretty, love French names
Alana- Rod Stewart connection just sticks in my head. It's not bad though.
Elise- Very nice.
Lois- always liked this. Although it's an 'L' name it seems more upmarket and original than the trendy ones you hear.
Lucia- Pretty, Italian sounding
Elissa- Nice sound but spelling could look invented
Alex- give her a proper name THEN abbreviate it. Alex is not a finished name. Alexis is a great name.

Rockaby · 10/04/2017 15:52

Love Eloise and like Delilah. I dislike Elissa. The rest are nice, but I'm not in love with any of them.

paddypants13 · 10/04/2017 14:51

Alana is my favourite.

SerenaVDW · 10/04/2017 13:36

Love Eloise, Lois and Lucia. Not sure about Alana.

BertrandRussell · 10/04/2017 11:18

Delilah has too many negative associations.

Alana is just an affectionate term for a girl.

Lucia is nice and unusual. So is Lois.

Mrsknackered · 10/04/2017 11:15

Love Delilah, Alana and Elise.
Rest are OK.
Hate Eloise though too many nasty's called it

BounceBounceSplishSplash · 10/04/2017 10:45

Really dislike Elissa (though I love Elise) and not keen on Alana, Eloise, Lucia or Alex.

Elise, Lois and Delilah are my favourites in that order.

SuperBeagle · 10/04/2017 10:42

I love Eloise and Lucia.

Not a fan of the rest, although Alex is fine as a nickname for Alexandra.

blondehair · 10/04/2017 10:02

My mums called Lois. I thought it was the most weird name when I was little but I think it's nice now.

YoungYolandaYorgensen39 · 10/04/2017 08:44

I don't hate any, but I'm not keen on Lucia. I love Alex(andra), Delilah and Eloise.

BikeRunSki · 10/04/2017 08:27

I don't like Alana or Delilah, and really don't like Ellisa.

I love Eloise (especially The Dammed refetence), and really like Elise and Lois too.

I'm fairly neutral on the others.
