Ew! 😕

Ohyesiam · 09/04/2017 23:11

Lot and lots of hyphen Mae's round where I live.

Mummamayhem · 09/04/2017 22:58

I like May but that doesn't really help.

FanaticalFox · 09/04/2017 22:55

Thank you all

I know a Dulcie-May.

I like Dulcie on its own, I think it's pretty enough.

CotswoldStrife · 09/04/2017 21:20

Well done for changing the plan there OP, I think they work better as separate names.

ThoraGruntwhistle · 09/04/2017 21:17

I don't like hyphenated names due them looking indecisive and cutesy. May/Mae/Mai is very overused. Dulcie is sugary (like dulce de leche) and at the same time really ugly sounding.

Sorry.

ChippieFishieHorshie · 09/04/2017 21:12

I really don't like Dulcie (imo twee and popular) and I dislike the hyphen...

I actually do like May/Mae. Mae Dulcie would be nice.

Foncy87 · 09/04/2017 19:45

I work with children and this is a very popular name, well Dolcie-Mae and Dulce-Mae! If your not bothered about other children having the same name in her class then go for it if you like it!

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 09/04/2017 14:57

Dulcie is ok as a name. IMO Mae is a common name when hyphenated with another name.

TurquoiseDress · 09/04/2017 14:47

Dulcie-Mae for me, personally, is an absolute no way.

A name like that is just far too twee for me.

There are hoards of young girls out there called something-Mae.

however, the name Dulcie on its own is quite sweet

ArseyTussle · 09/04/2017 13:55

Good work OP. Dulcie is better as a standalone name.

FanaticalFox · 09/04/2017 13:52

Right thanks for all the feedback. Going to probably go for Dulcie only and Mae as a middle name. Thanks all!

Dreadful. I think every young woman with a hyphenated May/Mae name is going to drop the second part of their name as soon as they realise how common it makes them sound.

keeplooking · 09/04/2017 13:46

Anything -Mae is naff as fuck.

MN - telling it like it is Grin

Gallavich · 09/04/2017 13:43

Just Dulcie. Anything -Mae is naff as fuck.

Reow · 09/04/2017 13:42

Dulcie is nice.

Sick to death of May Mae Mai.

reuset · 09/04/2017 13:35

Ditch the hyphen and Mae.

harderandharder2breathe · 09/04/2017 10:01

I'm not a fan of Dulcir or of -Mae sorry

dimdommilpot · 09/04/2017 08:52

I love Dulcie. Really dislike Mae/Mai/May

TimidLividyetagain · 08/04/2017 21:51

It is sweet in Spanish. So doesn't need Mae at the end. It's already sweet enough

Rinkydinkypink · 08/04/2017 21:46

No

SuperBeagle · 08/04/2017 21:46

I have a close family member named Dulcie who has always despised her name, and resented her parents for giving it to her. Perhaps if she had a different attitude about her name, I might like it, but as it stands, I think it's awful.

Mae is not great when tacked on anywhere. I much prefer Mae/May as a first name.

ScarletSienna · 08/04/2017 21:27

I have a real soft spot for Dulcie. I think adding the -Mae spoils it a bit by making it too cutesy. Given its meaning, I'd avoid adding another 'sweet' sounding name.

JollyBobs · 08/04/2017 20:25

Dulcie was my nanas name. I think it's lovely, but not keen on mae
